Purchased at trader Joe's. 21 oz bottle, with best before dating of "18 May 17" on the label...thats about 5 months out, which seems to make sense.

Brewed for Trader Joe's 50th anniv. Big fan of TJs and GF so picking up a bottle of this was a no brainer.

Pours very lightly hazed lighter amber, minor off white head, leaves a respectable amount of delicate and spotty lacing.

Faint nose of ripe fruit.

Tastewise I get some light tropical fruit, pepper,a welcome but slight bubble gum presence, Belgian yeastyness and flavorful saisonesque goodness. Nice brew, easy drinking and approachable...good everyday kinda brew...went real well with some bread and cheese and a green salad with peppery greans.... I shall buy more of this brew and support two of my favorite companies..

Bottled in honor of Trader Joe’s 50th anniversary, as an exclusive for the natural foods chain.

Appearance: Clean golden with a huge white head.

Aroma: Fruit all the way, with a sweet and sour citrus and red fruit nose. Nice.

Taste: Sour fruit up front, with a little hint of bitterness from, presumably, the El Dorado hops. Peppery spice notes come in, too, as this one warms a bit. Solid and quite tasty.

Bottle up at the Capitol and Front Trader Joe's... Pours clearish golden.. foamy white head has nice enough retention.. Traditional mix of dry spicy saison is punctuated by some sweet orange and sweetish yeasty notes.. Nice saison.. Sorta reminds me of the "Wench B-Day" saison a while back.

Somewhat surprised by the lower ratings here...but in any case: pours a medium yellow with a light white head. Aroma had a nice blend of Belgian saison yeast esters - pepper, some clove and muted fruit, an essence of the orange peel as well. Nice clean flavor with a crisp finish, more typical saison flavors coming through as well. Quite enjoyable

22oz bomber split between two glasses. Served in a Duvel tulip for me. Best before 05/18/17.

Appearance: Bright golden yellow with a hint of amber. Thin white head, with some strands and islands of persistent lacing. Nice color and good clarity.

Smell: Hints of orange and floral notes.

Taste: Floral, citrus peel, orange, biscuity malt, light bitter finish which is lightly citrus and just a hint of tropical fruit.

Mouthfeel: Dry finish, just right carbonation and nice thickness. A tiny bit sticky on the teeth.

Overall / Drinkability: Very drinkable and well made. A delicate flavor saison, but not so delicate that I have to try hard to pull out the flavors. Maybe a better way to describe this beer is that it has good simple flavors which are perfectly balanced, but not overly strong. Definitely quenches the thirst and paired well with food (Pozole). I could easily finish off a whole bottle of this myself. A nice tribute to one of my favorite grocery stores and really a great beer overall.

This pours a beautiful straw color, the slightest bit hazy, bubbly nearly like champagne. Gorgeous beer.

The Saison yeast and orange peel really come through on the nose - a sweet, slightly funky delight. The orange peel is very forward on the taste, and the Saison yeast sits back and guides this in for a very nice landing.

I think Green Flash nailed this - if drink this regularly if it was available in the summer.

Pours a clear, golden color with a thick, white head about 2 fingers thick. Smells of citrus and yeast notes. Tastes of pepper, sweet malts, and citrus. A little on the thin side. Overall it's a solid enough beer, certainly easy drinking. Would go well on a summer day or watching sports. The flavor certainly shouldn't interfere too much with any food.

bought at TJs in Dadeland. 22 oz bottle
Look: Straw to pale gold with a thin-ish white head with very low retention. clarity is about 85%. no lacing observed. Smell: yeast derived fruity esters and peppery spices. soft wheaty, bready, light malts and some floral hops.
Taste: all complexity here is coming from the yeast esters and derived spices. good balance between malt sweetness and moderate bitterness. I do not detect separate flavors from the orange peel or rose hips.
Feel: medium to medium full body with oily texture. moderate carbonation is present and the astringency is pronounced. Finishes dry and short with only some astringency lingering on the palate.
Overall: a decent enough Saison although the expected white head, retention and lacing typical to this style are lacking. Also the experimental side (rose hips and sweet orange peel) is too subtle.

Pours a clear yellow with just a little fog to it. Head foams up to two fingers in height, and white in color. Head retention is a little strange. Most of the head deflates rather quickly, with large bubbles quickly replacing the tightly-laced head. Aroma is a lively saison, with notes of banana, clove, Belgian yeast, orange zest, and biscuit malts. Flavor profile is very similar, with notes of banana and clove hitting first. Belgian yeast with biscuit malts and a zing of orange zest keep this beer lively and fun. Mouth feel is medium-thin, with a bit of a carbonated, fizzy feel on the back of the tongue. Still, it slips down smooth. Overall, a flavorful saison with plenty of spunk and liveliness. The Belgian taste with a zing of orange zest really makes this one fun to drink.

Served in a 12oz snifter.

Lovely bright golden beer that built a nice foam on the pour but settled to a thin ring. Just a little haze from some bottle yeast. Bright grass and fresh hay with some earthy clay and terracotta on the nose. Tasty brew. Dry yeast and water crackers. Earthy stone fruit of apricot and peach with a bright lime and green grass tartness. Fabulous. Very rich, breads, earthy, bright and so complex. Perfectly balanced between sweet and tart, dry and juicy. Again quite complex. Wow, great saison! Easy drinking with tons of flavor and depth. Never would know it came from California and not some small brewery in Europe. Other people critiqued this beer for the rose hips and orange peel not being detectable or strong enough, but I applaud Green Flash for the restraint. Those ingredients are best used when accentuating a the fundamental flavor profile of a saison instead of dominating it. Will buy more before its gone!
