Pours a deep orange color with a moderate sized off-white head. Head has good retention and leaves heavy lacing. Smells of bread, grapefruit, and hop resin.

Taste starts with a creamy breadiness, then grapefruit and a bit of mint, with a resinous finish. Has a clean, dry, bready and resinous aftertaste. Has average body with above average carbonation for a DIPA.

Much better than the current BA rating of 91.

A - Amber color. Pours little head.

S - Hints of citrus. Definite West Coast DIPA.

T - Initial taste lemon/pine, but as it warms, grapefruit rind comes out. Definitely hides alcohol. Not a hop monster like Ruination, but a good amount of hops. Malt/sweetness undetectable which I prefer. Bitterness increases as beer warms. Refreshing, a term not usually used with a DIPA.

M - Very nice. Yields a light foam in the mouth. Very well carbonated.

O - Very nice DIPA. Better exist, but for $5.99 for a 24 oz. bottle, a good alternative when Founder's Double Trouble or Bell's The Oracle are not available.

Cloudy deep straw color with a lot of orange and yellow hue. 1-finger white head with medium- retention.

Can't argue about a lack of hops: onion, cat pee, pineapple, pine resin, lemon zest and garlic. Wondering if the hops are starting to break down with a little age.

Onion, chive, pine resin, pine sap and citrus. Resin and bitterness build as the beer develops on the palate.

Full bodied with a rich mouthfeel. A little bit on the boozy side, but the alcohol is contained in the body of the beer.

Feel like I got an old bottle. Was looking for a date on the bottle, but didn't see one.

A - Yellow-orange. I could care less about appearance, so unless it's really beautiful or really ugly, it will get the average of the other ratings. Who drinks a beer for appearance anyway?

S - Citrus and pine. They did not cheap out on high quality hops for the late additions and dry hopping.

T - The citrus and pine cuts through amazingly well for a beer with an ABV this high. It does not have that high ABV taste and the malt is very light for a beer with this high of an ABV.

M - Exceptionally smooth for a beer with an ABV this high.

O - I had this at the Amsterdam Ale house in NYC, only $6 for a pint. The best beer I had that day.

Just got palate wrecker today too! Wanted to try both to compare the two. This one is obviously a step down from Palate Wrecker...

A -4.25 - The beer is still crystal clear, a nice golden/amber color (slightly lighter than palate wrecker) with a 2 finger head of loose/mixed bubbles.

S - 4.00 - Little tinge of alc, lots of citrusy flavors (grapefruit, orange, lemon, lime zest), with not that much malt background.

T - 4.00 - This beer is slightly less complex than palate wrecker, it is still an imperial ipa, still measures up to Ruination, it's a good imperial IPA in which you can taste a lot of hops with grapefruit/orange/lemon/lime zest as usual. Definitely a very bitter beer. I can tell hop Palate Wrecker is their flagship though.

M - 4.25 - Light --> medium bodied beer. Head sticks around forever giving a frothiness in your mouth that allows you to taste all the flavors. Doesn't have the tongue numbing bitterness of palate wrecker, it's just not there.

O - 4.00 - A very good imperial IPA, nothing about this beer makes it bad, no dankness, no onion/garlic flavor just the citrusy good hops that you want to taste. It tastes a lot weaker compared to palate wrecker. It's definitely more of a toned down imperial IPA.

Appearance: Orange-amber, slight head, altogether appetizing. Fine lacing.
Smell: citrus, pine, hoppy,
Taste: crisp, clean, slightly sweet with dry finish.
mouthfeel: smooth, no alcohol pop despite ABV, between medium & full body. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Overall: outstanding offering, especially given the elevated ABV. Very drinkable.

Serving type: bottle into an imperial pint glass
