Appearance 4.0: Beautiful, opaque golden color. Nice 1/2" head. Excellent lacing.

Smell 3.75: Nice bouquet, but not as hop-forward as one might expect. Also, there is a very pleasant butterscotch/ caramel scent in here that is beguiling.

Taste 4.00: Front is sweet and has a very slight alkaline hint. Middle is big but balanced and this is where a wave of hop-madness assaults the taste-buds. Citrus, pine, bitter, alkaline, chlorophyll...just about any hop taste you can think of. Also a big hit of sweet malt at this taste level. Finish is smooth and the tastes from the middle quickly fade away here into a short and refreshing aftertaste that is (of course) hop-focused.

Mouthfeel 4.25: Mouthfeel is actually one of the best parts of this beer and does an excellent job rounding out the various (and varied) hop assaults.

Overall 4.00: Very good Imperial IPA that is as big as you would think and also features an excellent balance of malt and hop. Not the best IPA on the planet, but it is certainly worthy of the appellation "outstanding." Be aware: this is an over-the-top beer alcohol wise, so cancel your helicopter flying school field test if you try to down one of these at lunch. Nonetheless, hop-heads should check this one out of they can find it.

Pours a clean golden-amber, with a big head of white foam. Lovely detailed lace, too. Nice presentation.

Nose is definitely a nice citrus, tropical fruit (pineapple) and pine -- strong and hefty already. I can already see this is going to be exquisite.

Taste is heavy, yes, but well-balanced. The pine-tropical hops are dialed way up there, but this one remains easy to drink. The strong ABV isn't even too detectable here. A perfectly solid and standout IPA, well-worth a repeat purchase!

Poured from a 650 ml bottle into a nonic.

A: Light amber hue. Pervasive and continual rising effervescence. Pours a 2 finger, frothy, white head. Settles very slowly. Leaves a very persistent foamy blanket. Spotty, dry, persistent lacing.

S: Pine resin, pine straw, pecans.

T: Hoppy pine with a little sweet agave nectar and grapefruit pith.

M: Full and hearty, however high alcohol is not so apparent. Bitter and flavorful aftertaste lingers on the palate.

D: Sipper... based on character.

Atmosphere is really excellent. Frothy head, persistent blanket, and persistent lacing. Nose is piny with a nutty tone. Hoppy, with touches of sweetness and citrus. Overall, this is a great quaff.

650ml bottle at The Local Pub.

Apperance: Coppery golden colour, hazy, with a nice tan head. Very clear body!

Smell: Aroma was toffee, caramel and bread from the malts used probably. The hops were deffinitely there but no so intense as hopped. hints of pine and maybe pineapple.

Taste: The taste was a little bitter with tropical fruits (maybe peach?) while the aftertaste was pure caramel, again from the big malts used. I was hopping a not so balanced beer, but one on the hoppy side.

Apperance; The body was medium to full with average to high carbonartion.

Overall: not the best DIPA I ever had, but a nice one nontheless. i was hoping for more hops, but as it seems I tend to like Green Flash's Porter-Stous rather that their IPAs.
