Brewed by:
Green Flash Brewing Co.
California, United States

Style: American Double / Imperial Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.80%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
We explored 19th Century British Stout recipes, then charted a fresh course to land on a modern American version of the old-world classic. Our Double Stout encompasses the very best of both worlds. Golden naked oats, dark crystal and roasted malt offer a luscious balance of bittersweet chocolate and hints of coffee. Fair winds and following seas. Smooth sailing, all the way home.

Picked up a 4 pack not realizing it was a year old, first time with this brew.
Pours black with large creamy head, looks fantastic. Not much smell.
Taste is smooth and creamy. Not a lot of flavor but nice, def can't taste the alcohol.
Very Easily drinkable

Pours black with large mocha head. Smells of roasted, almost smokey, malt, slight coffee and a tinge of bittersweet chocolate. Taste is largely roasted malt. Not super sweet, with some hop bitter going on. Mouthfeel isn't super heavy. Nice long roasty cocoa aftertaste. A very nice double stout that keeps the sweetness in check. Yummy! I was very impressed by this one.

A. Nearly black appearance with a one finger tan head that leaves a nice amount of lacing.

S. Shy nose that displays a bit of coffee, fudge chocolate and roasted malt.

T. Flavorful stout with coffee, roasted malt and dark chocolate. There is just enough hop bitterness to counteract the malt sweetness. Lingering finish of roasted malt.

M. Creamy, big bodied mouth feel with very low carbonation.

O. I bought this on a whim and was pleasantly surprised at how drinkable this stout is. The sweetness vs. bitterness is just about perfect. Priced competitively too. I will be keeping a few of these on-hand during the winter months.
