look: 4.5 | smell: 4.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4.25

Pours a clear orangish/amber, finger and a half of off white head, nice lacing

Smell is big on orange, mango, citrus, pine needle, sweet malt coming through a little more then I would have thought, grapefruit, pineapple. Very floral

Taste is pine resin, tropical and citrus notes, grapefruit bitterness, a little melon like sweetness, sweet malt, a little alcohol on the finish, big pine bitterness toward the end mixed in with a nice earthy hop bitterness

Mouthfeel is on the heavy side of medium, low to medium carbonation, very and I mean very dry on the finish.

Been waiting to try this one ever since Green Flash came to the area. It is good, maybe not as good as I was hoping, but that is probably mostly due to my build um in my mind. Glad I got a 4 pack but due to the price I will probably only pick this one up every once in a great while.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Dogfish Head IPA glass.

A: Amber hue. Substantial rising effervescence. Pours about a 2+ finger, dry, frothy, brown-white head. Craters in quite a desiccating fashion, slowly but surely settling to a light foamy blanket and some remaining residue.

S: Pine straw, hops, pine resin, lemon citrus, and a nice floral component.

T: Lightly nutty malt grain, boat loads of pine resin, and plenty of lemon pith.

M: Syrupy body. Extremely bitter. Mouth-drying finish.

D: Sip and enjoy. The character will dictate as much.

Atmosphere is really nice. Plenty of effervescence, giant head, and some very spotty yet persistent lacing. Very piney and floral with lemon citrus. Has a slight nutty base character with an extremely hoppy bitter palate. Overall, this is a really good quaff.

Served in a tulip. Best By: 06/03/14 bottle date.

Long lasting off-white foam head got to about a finger's-width. Lots of bubbles in the cap, and dense, leaves behind great sheet lacing. The orange-copper body also shines brightly. Very attractive beer.

Resinous and fruity bouquet blooming out of this tulip! Slightly sweet malt is detected under the grapefruit and tangerine scent. Great nose.

Absolutely huge resinous hop profile on Palate Wrecker, and of course the bitterness of this one is a twelve out of ten, lasts forever after the finish. There is a tangerine sweetness to the palate, with some more sour grapefruit notes. Along with a herbal pepperiness that hangs out closer to the finish. A biscuity malt also peeks through for just a second, adding to the sweet quality of the palate. However, Palate Wrecker is absolutely dominated by that resin quality that just kicks one in the face. Bombastic DIPA on the palate for sure!

Slick with a medium to light body. Good creaminess detected on the tongue as well. Very dry, oh so dry, and the hop bite has huge staying power. Make this your last beer of the night, because that flavor just does not go away.

Palate Wrecker may not be big on providing a wide array of scents and flavors, but it does not need it. If you want a DIPA that is going to just absolutely kick you in the mouth and make you say "yes sir, I'd like some more", then Palate Wrecker is probably the beer to find and consume. At your own risk.

A: In a tulip glass the beer poured a dense off-white/yellowish head with mixed bubbles and great retention. As the foam fell into the clear, dark orange liquid, it left a thick coat of lacing on the edge. When agitated the foam would kick up more, no noticeable legs, but the foam might be getting in the way.

S: Big aroma on this just the way I like my IPAs. Dank, reisonous, and pine hop aroma that seem very developed and refined. Slight sweet-tarts like aroma, with a tiny bit of toast malt coming through.

T: Blam! Hope this was the last beer you wanted to drink. Huge bitterness that smacks you in the taste buds and doesn’t let up as you keep sipping. Same reisonous, pine and dank hop flavors coming through. Some tropical fruit flavors coming through also. Very much reminds me of DFH 90 minute but with a different hop variety. In the aftertaste there is some lingering toasty malt flavors but otherwise this beer is all hops.

M: Sticky icky mouthfeel all over the tongues. Low to medium carbonation with a medium body. The hop oils left on the pallet truly do wreck anything else you try to consume afterwards.

O: It lives up to its name. Not something I would drink on a regular basis but a one and done kind of beer. Very tasty and packed full of hop goodness.

Aroma: Strong herbs, pines, hops, metallic caramel. Appearance: Crimson gold with no foam. Taste: Strong bitter hops, cinnamon, caramel, chalky molasses, brown sugar and faint grapefruit. Overall, I remember this being much better. Doesn't taste fresh and juicy Imperial IPA. Still it's really good. Strong bitterness and pronounced alcohol. I'd give this a B rating.
