A: [4.25] The bottle lists the ABV (9.5%) and there is a best by date (09/01/2017). The beer is a super transparent orange color. It has 1 1/2 fingers of white head.

S: [3.75] Pine, pineapple, oranges,

T: [3.25] It is assertive. There is alcohol heat present. Pineapple, candied oranges, pine.

M: [3.50] Lower carbonation and a bit syrupy. There is a long lingering dry finish.

O: [3.50] I get where they are trying to go. Uber hop bomb. Unfortunately it came across as a bit medicinal to me. I think there are beers at 1/2 the ABV with better balance and flavor.

I enjoy the retro brand label. Clear amber pour, memory-foam pillow top head and lacing. Smells like fruity, resinous, sunshiney hops. Mouth feel is creamy while the taste is a proper display of the previously mentioned hops in addition to slight astringency in the after bite. On one hand I appreciate this beer for it's display of the style and it's hops, and on another I don't think I'll be going out of my way for it again, but who can complain at 9.5% Green Flash has succeeded in what they aimed for in this beer I feel.

Amber colored beer with a nice big head. What really shines is the lacing. Straight up soapy-like lace that surrounds the entire glass. Completely different from 99% of the beers I've tries. Super thick lace.

Smell is a piney, earthy hop with a ton of roasted malt. A little heavy - carried over from the taste. A definitively big malty character which has a little bit of an edge over the hops. A little bitter but it doesn't linger too long. Pine is the main hop I'm tasting. A little bit of alcohol but not too much. Finishes pretty dry. Reminds me of the original Double IPA's. (Malty)

Overall a decent imperial IPA. Pretty easily drinkable, I could see myself knocking back a couple, price point is pretty high compared to other Imperial IPA's/doubles. Not a bad choice.

Bottle poured into a Green Flash Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours golden orange amber with a frothy light beige head that settles to a firm layer and leaves some nice lacing.

S: Resinous pine, spicy herbal notes, fruity notes, some citrus, big caramel/toffee sweetness, bready malt, and a little alcohol.

T: Old school DIPA all the way. Big sweet malty backbone fighting with a mountain of hops. Floral notes jump out first, citrus, lemon, orange, a little grapefruit, big time resinous pine, spicy herbal tones, underlying fruity notes, passion fruit, peach, a hint of melon, sturdy bready malty back bone, and a ton of caramel/toffee sweetness, plus some alcohol that elbows its way into the fight.

M: Full body, moderate carbonation, with a little warmth as it goes down.

O: The smell alone brings back memories of sitting in my long time favorite pub, watching pint after pint of this get poured, wishing I was into IPAs so I could try it just for the name. Years later it's nice to get my hands on it. Gotta say, it lives up to that name. Not my favorite DIPA, but a nice piece of nostalgia for me.

Sixpoint Resin in style but more malty than piney, and less delicious overall. That said, a totally worthwhile contribution to the cannon of piney 2x ipas.

My lady friend told me about this lil' treat...she told me it was aptly named and that the consumption of one of these dandies was the last thing she recalled on a given evening... my read: a solid American Double worth a try.

Mostly clear, coppery color. Thin head with minimal streak lacing. The aroma is tangerine, stone fruit, butterscotch, and caramel malt. The flavor is as the label says: "hop forward". Lots of pine and citrus packed in this one. Very bitter and resinous. Still drinkable tho, and balanced enough. Kinda boozy, with some alcohol vapor. Worth checking out at least.

12oz bottle, BB Aug. 1/17. Fresh!
Pours clear without much head. No lacing.
Smells boozy...like vodka does.
Too dry and astringent for my taste preference. The booze overpowers the hops, leaving them as mere background, just some sticky resin as aftertaste.
At "6lbs per barrel", this is a damn waste of good hops. The palate gets 'wrecked' by the booze, not the hops!
Suggestion: ease back on the abv stick, and let the hops be the stars.

From their Norfolk Brewery: from the growler, it pours a slightly dark amber with a modest head. Lots of piney hops in the nose. The mouth gets a nicely hoppy malty flavor. Yum!

Topped with a light tan to pink, dense, uniform foam, the body is a shimmering dark amber.

Dank and fruity on the nose, I get super sticky, sweaty, overripe peach in massive amounts, with a little cannabis and pine. Some woody funk arises as it warms.

Taste flips the script, with super bitter pine coming first, then woody grapefruit and peach meekly trying to fight through this tongue thrashing monster.

Palate Wrecker has a really smooth, slick body, almost soft and pillowy with a balanced finish, if not for the immense and biting bitterness.

To anyone unfamiliar or less experienced with downing intense hop cocktails like this, or even less extreme, normal IPAs, this will scar you for life.
