Great beer, not as hoppy as I thought, but just enough to make it a great beer.

A little malty but that supports the abv. Not as intimidating as I thought it would be, dangerously good to drink.

I'm not into really hoppy beer, but I have to give this one credit for its honesty. Hoppy smell with a fruity/hoppy kick that evolves into a lingering bitterness that isn't unpleasant. It just is what it is! If you like hoppy beer, you'll enjoy this one.

Strong hop bite up front but smooth on the finish and aftertaste
ABV is hidden very well and the malty backbone does an OK job smoothing the IBU
It doesn't wreck your palate but certainty wakes it up

It lives up to its name. This is a great hoppy beer of you like imperial or double IPA's. The way it hits you is very aggressive, it is true hop lovers dream beer. The 9.5% ABV is blended well with the malts so although a bitter beer, it finished smooth. This is one of the strongest hopped beers I have had.

Juicy happy goodness that does not go down like a 9.5
The kind of hops that make your cheeks hurt a little.
Great beer.

Tasted overwhelmingly old. Served at Zapp's Beer Fest.

Finally getting around to reviewing this bad-boy. Been waiting in the fridge for quite a while.

Appearance 3.75: Great looking beer, pours out a deep golden color. Nice, creamy, 1/2" head. Decent lacing.

Smell 4.25: Great bouquet. Very (of course!) hop-forward, but interestingly, the hops that are forward are all citrus: grapefruit, candied orange rind and almost a crystallized ginger smell.

Taste 4.5: Front is big with a massive kick of hoppiness, but very little sweetness. Middle is where a giant wave of malt and alkaline hoppiness hits you like a mule. But, this is all well-balanced and smooth. Finish is a rain of alkaline hoppiness in the mouth. Very interesting: there is very little outstanding hop flavor with this beer other than a clean hop bitterness. Did they use Magnum? Aftertaste is a citrusy blast, primarily of grapefruit. Also a nice warming feeling from all the alcohol.

Mouthfeel 4.25: Very nice in the mouth. Smooth and with a level of carbonation that helps to balance out the big ABV.

Overall 4.25: Excellent beer. Great hop blending and very flavorful without being overpowering (regardless of its name). Amazingly light given its ABV, this is a delicious brew for a brief sessioning...aw, heck, just drink all four of them, but make it a Friday night. Recommended to all IPA fans.
