Served in a pint glass at Portsmouth Brewery in NH.

Appearance: It is a pale yellow color with great clarity. Nice head with bubbles coming up through the glass. Nice lacing on the glass as the beer was drank too.

Smell: Grassy, tropical, and citrusy with some light bready and caramel notes in the rear.

Taste: Same as above with lingering bitterness in the end.

Mouthfeel: light to medium bodied, smooth, tingly bitterness, medium to high carbonation, and a little chewy.

Overall: Pretty solid light IPA. Got to love citra hops and the balance of the bready and caramel malts.

I was poured this both on DRAFT and on CASK in a standard pint glass. I preferred the cask version. Anyway...

Looks nice and smells like a typical APA, but the taste was a little too bitter for me. Still, it exhibited nice qualities in smell and taste. Low ABV means they could have really took advantage of showcasing the taste - but I feel it's lacking a bit.

Not sure I'd order this again, as I found it "average." Actually, I was hoping it would be closer to Kern River's "Citra," but it fell flat.

-Spiegelau ipa glass. Best by label, no printed date.

A: Orange colored body with a good clarity reveals a healthy dose of macro-effervesce. A solid one inch frothy-foam, weathered seashell white head has a long lasting effect. Broken semi-circle lacing.

S: Fresh citrusy-orange, wet, with hints of wet pine resins, pear yeastiness, with a finish of grapefruit-pineapple hops. Lightly toasted grains, medium intensity, rather short duration ending with some lightly dry straw.

T: Flavor was dry citrus flowery hops, hay, semi-dry grapefruit grind and pine. Moderate complexity and blending, though not as fresh, wet and fruity as the nose, but dry with a sting of dry orange grind, wheat, grassy hops on the knock-out. Some indications of stale citrus.

M: Frothy mouthful, mid-range carbonation, lightly dry, leans toward the lighter side of medium being 4.5%.

O: Starts promising, good visual, nice fresh wet nose of citra, finishes rather ordinary with a west coast hopping rather tropical citra notes. Dry and bittering for a session is what it does best, nice level of ibu's for a session, just wished it had more tropical flavor appeal and a proper best by dating would of been nice. Best served slightly chilled, upon warming some off putting raw hop flowers.
