Poured from a 650ml bottle. Pours a black colour with a big tan head. The nose is a crazy mix of sour funk, herbal botanicals (anise/licorice) and saison yeast notes. On the palate it's very dry with notes of dry cocoa powder, Jaegermeister, funk and spice. The finish has lots of palate drying tannins and bitterness. Medium bodied. A very unique brew.

Appearance is dark brown, looks just like a stout. Cocoa colored head starts with generous amounts and dissipates to a thin coating. Heavy lacing present. The nose is spice forward with heavy notes of clove, anise, and lemon zest. A bit of funk is present as well. Not getting anything from the dark malts... guessing there is some debittered black malt in the malt bill purely for the purpose of changing the color, can't say that I'm a fan of this technique. Taste is spicy, similar to nose. Clove and lemon are the predominant flavors with some funky yeast in there as well. Flavors don't really come together as the spice profile seems to leave a bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel is light and well carbonated. Overall, this is a mediocre saison that I would not recommend going out of the way for.

This beer was all around awful. has the look of a stout and a little essence of a red ale but this beer was not friendly to the palate. Green flash is innovative and usually doesnt disappoint but a complete whif on this one. i usually like stronger beer such as ipa and dipa but this was so far away from anything that tasted like beer

My first BA review. Sorry to say it was for this. I had high expectations for this when I picked up a bomber. All I can really say is that it was like drinking a menthol cigarette. Disappointing. Good appearance and an enticing description, but I just did not enjoy this at all.

Appearance: It has a nice deep amber (almost black) colour to it. It has a thick beige head that dies down slowly and leaves lovely lacing.

Aroma: The aromas definitely give out hints of Belgian yeast, spices, citrus and roasty malts.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has some sweet roasty malts, some yeast, spices and faint citrus.

Mouthfeel: It has a low carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel.

Overall: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied by good flavours and aromas.

A - opaque, dark brown with good head and retention
S - lots of spice, peppery, a bit medicinal and floral
T - unbalanced. Too much spice with a pretty poor after taste. Different.
M - taste aside it's got an okay mouthfeel. Medium-full bodied with average carbonation
O - dumping it. I can't drink this.
