I was really impressed by how well cedar worked with an IPA in Cigar City's Humidor Series Jai Alai. Green Flash's cedar plank experiment seems to have not been as successful, though. This mainly comes across as a decent pale ale. There is a hint of the cedar in the finish, but if I didn't know that this was a cedar aged beer, I'd be hard pressed to tell you what the aftertaste was.

Had on tap at Sticks and Stones here in GSO.Poured into a standard pint glass a clouded deep golden with a tinge of amber,a thin white head atop.Citric hops in the nose along with a bit of toast wich is light.Bitter flavors along with toasted wood flavors, the hops are in your face bitter with a touch of citrus but the bitter flavors win out,a bit of toasted oak flavor comes into play as well.Good in concept but not a very good beer here.

Has a fresh herbal, clean laundry nose, scented with floral, grass and a little earth. Pours clean but hazy orange gold with a 2” off-white persistent, lacy, stiff detergent like foam cap. The beer clears as it warms and more caramel comes forward with traces of biscuit. Attacks the palate with an initial sweetness touched by fruit and berry that gives way to a growing bitterness that becomes almost mouth puckeringly astringent by the finish. The bitterness is mostly citrus rind. Melon flavors grow by mid-palate into the finish. Has a satiating body with an above average very soft carbonation. The beer has a lot going on, is well balanced and easy to drink.

Pours a nice orange colour with a slight white foam that dissipates quickly.
Pine hits your nostrils immediately with florals and of course, citrus.
Taste is not as obvious. Basic malt, some florals and pine in the back.
Mouth feel is dry.

Very clear copper ale, topped with an off-white head. Nice retention.

Strong hoppy aroma with the unmistakable scent of wood. It's slightly different than oak, but not distinct enough for me to pull out "cedar" particularly. Very aromatic, with floral and light citrus hops, and a strong caramel malt backbone.

Very woody component to the flavor, again just a slight bit different than oak - more earthy and herbal. Bright hops against a light caramel malt backbone, making this an overall bright and refreshing, but fairly light, brew. Hops are floral and bitter, with a bit of citrus peel, on the tongue.

Surprising amount of foaming from this lively brew. Minor sting. Light feel with a bitter, oily finish.

Decent beer, very easy drinking, but nothing special.

As I've read with others, I think this is a really well balanced American Pale Ale. Smells wonderful like most all Green Flash brews, tastes really well balanced. Doesn't have a ton of dimension but most Pale's are must smoother and less in your face that IPA's. Happy to have enjoyed this today.
