On tap at The Salted Pig in Riverside, CA.

Pours a clear orange-red with a foamy khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus zest, and herbal hop aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest and herbal flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a nice balance of citrus and herbal hops in the aroma and flavor.

On tap at Tyler's tap room in Aoex, NC. Serious place by the way. Check it out!

Great gear like nose and taste. Gear means pot! Wish I could smoke it!

Hop heads rejoice and drink this fresh wherever you find it. It is awesome and really well balanced and drinkable.

Peace!

Nice blood red, translucent, yellowish fluffy head, plenty lace. Piny, sticky, resinous hops, light citrus, caramel sweetness, sweet sticky bread. Fairly heavy bitterness, pine resin, caramel malt sweetness. Body is full, sticky and rich. Carbed well, alcohol is subdued, drinks easy.

Great imperial red....like hop head on steroids. Yum

Hop Odyssey Imperial Red Rye brewed with Mosaic hops

On tap at Green Flash Brewing – 16oz pour tulip glass
*05/16/13

A: Deep crimson colored body with some solid conditioning on display. Has a very nice clarity to it. All capped under a thick foam layer of light khaki froth. Astounding hang time on this one, my glass is left with a mess of runny tracked lacing. Really a great looking red.

S: Smells like tropical fruit juice with highlights of mango, grapefruit, and guava. There is a firm pine presence as well and a bit of caramel malt sweetness emitting. Dash of raisin spice bread there but otherwise very abundant with the fruity tropical’s.

T: Taste starts with a dank medley of juicy hop flavors. Mango, grapefruit, and pine are stand out. A bit of spicy guava hits later on and eventually gives way to some more traditional red flavors of caramel malts, dried fruits/raisin, and crusty bread. There is an upper moderate amount of bitterness to the beer and the alcohol is almost completely disguised. I get just a fleeting glimpse of crisp rye spice at the finish and it seems to work really well with the overall beer. Balance of flavors is really great. Totally digging this one.

M: Moderately full body on nice upper carbonation lends a great smooth and creamy texture to the brew. There is light drying on the finish with resinous and oily lingering after effect

D: Overall a great Imperial Red with balance between the malt profile and tropical/piney hop goodness. Mosaics are where it is at and I think they work great in an Amber here. Would gladly have more of this one.

Had on tap at Lynnhaven Pub in Va Beach which was a very pleasant surprise. Poured a brown tinted auburn with two finger head and lace ring down glass. An intense hoppy smell, your standard citric zip with touch of grape and the rye malt makes itself known in both aroma and actual beer. Smooth, fuller bodied, the rye malt gives off a dry edge and not much sweetness from the malts, but there is a little, and the hops balance/mix well as there is a smattering of earthy, sharp hops. Has that IPA flavor hop heads love with a little extra from the rye and the ABV helps give the backbite a kick in the pants. Overall, a solid beer.

On tap at Hamilton's this was a nice surprise. Red color, whew! I'm sweating! Aroma of spice and hops, must be the rye. Flavor is sort of thick hops a bit of caramel some spice which I assume could be the rye or the hops but either way it worked. Very west coast style beer and I almost wanted to add this as a double IPA because it felt so hoppy. Good beer.
