Picked up at a Whole Foods after work. Poured from a bottle into a pint glass and had a clear, golden/orangey color with a nice fluffy head. Smelled of hops and citrus, and tasted similarly with primary taste of citra hops and orangey, slightly lemony, tangerine-ish type of combination in the after taste. Very refreshing, and very smooth, a really enjoyable beer.

Not sure how to rate this beer since it's more an experiment or education thing (which I applaud Green Flash for doing). A few things I learned: one general observation with session IPA's, this included, is they tend to drink better a few degrees above usual serving temps. Right out of the fridge seems especially bad for sessions IPA's. Another thing I learned is that Citra as a bittering hop is not recommended. For me, I think it just amplified the cat pee and ammonia notes you sometimes get with Citra. I've had several beers dry hopped with Citra and don't really get that, but with this beer (assuming Citra is used throughout the hop additions), it's like fingernails on a blackboard, something is just not working, it's harsh and astringent to me, what I would think ammonia tastes like. Citra can be a wonderful, fruity, tropical addition but the bitter just took almost all of that fun away. Last thing I'm learning, again more a general conclusion, is 65 IBUs (per the label) is too much for a 4.5% beer. That might get back to Citra being a bad choice for bittering, but I've noticed this with other beers...tone it down!

Pours a mostly clear gold body, OK head retention and lacing. Aroma is dank citrus peel over light grain. On the palate there is nice citrus pulp and peel flavor, with low front-mid palate bitterness. On the finish there is much more peel oil bitterness, and only an OK texture.

The best Session beer I've ever had. Beautiful, clean taste. This beer has made me reconsider my position on Session beers in general.

I had this on tap at the Beer Store in Malvern, PA which encouraged me to get a 6 of bottles.
Pours transparent gold with light off-white foam and nice lacing.
Smells of grapefruit, little bit of a peppery note, tangerine rind
Taste comes through with tangerine, lemon, and a touch of grassiness and seltzer. On tap it had a bit more of the fruit and less of the grassiness.
Overall this is an excellent session IPA, it actually has some character and body. For my tastes a lot of the session IPAs have a seltzer note to them that is off-putting.
