I love this place. They have a tasting room with a bottle shop with around 10 coolers. As expected they carry all the beers distributed in Los Angeles along with some rarities from time to time. Just like them on Facebook to see any special beers they get in like Alpine, Cantillon, limited releases, etc.

The guys that run this place are super cool and very welcoming. For me, the biggest plus is they sell singles of everything. They probably sell half of their inventory in coolers and the other half on two rectangular shelves in the middle of the bottle shop.

It's kinda easy to miss the first time. It's located in a tiny strip mall with limited mall parking and street parking.

The prices are on par with other bottle shops in the area, but given they sell singles, the guys are super chill, and it's relatively close to my house, I'm finding myself visiting this store more often.

I had Cantillon Iris on tap today (8/31/2014). Lovely!

I had to check this place out since I was in the area. Parking can be tough as the spot is in a strip mall with only a few parking spaces alloted in the lot. Street parking was filled up but I got lucky after making a few passes. It's in a bit of a sketchy area as well. Inside it's a cool combo of a taproom and bottle shop. They had 5 beers on tap in the tasting room which was pretty cozy and relaxing. Their bottle shop part was about 10 coolers and some tables with a wide variety of bottles. You can buy beers to go or buy them to drink after a corkage fee. They had a few beers I have never seen before which is always nice. I just got a beer from the taproom which was a nice tulip pour of Victory Helios for $4. I will definitely be back in the future and I highly recommend a stop for anyone in the area.

The best bottle shop in LA. Hands down.

Almost all their beer is cold. Fresh. They have tasting AND you can buy single cans. Pretty cool.

Fantastic bottle shop in Echo Park, coolers upon coolers filled with fantastic beer. All bottles sold as singles, which makes it convenient to buy & try lots of different brews without spending too much. Their Belgian/European selection is great, and they bring in bottles from a lot of small, out of state breweries as well. The bar side is set up more like a coffee house, very comfortable and inviting. The people working are all very friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. If I had to point out a negative, it would be a phenomenon that is merely a product of how great this place is: while they get most/all of the rare beers distributed to SoCal, they open at 2 and often sell out within a matter of hours, making it difficult for a 9-5er to get them. I certainly don't blame them for this though, and am extremely happy to have a gem like this right down the street.

Sunset Beer Co is a great place. Has a real family feel to it and a laid back atmosphere. Very nice beer selection. I would like to see more volume in terms of choices. I see beers that are easy to get elsewhere that come and go. They get and have great stuff but I'm surprised that they don't have more.
Good team. Most of them seem to be knowledgable but not snobby - big plus.
Always a good place to hang but the pizza next door is not good. The pizza is not part of this business but it's the place to eat while you're there, so don't come hungry.
Overall, I love having this shop in my hood and I really enjoy my time there. I also think things will only get better.

i'm disappointed that there's only one review.

a: it's a dim pleasant setting. in the lounge area, wood panelling, built in book shelves, and a couple cozy shelves. in the retail area, a wall of refrigerators and 2 table for more inventory. they could do better seating options, as the lounge area has 2 voluminous tables that only seat 3 in stools. they have a narrow outdoor area populated by a few smokers. the crowd is full of bearded vintage clad types focusing on more sessionable brews. i know that turns some people off, but i've never felt that anyone in the crowd was jerky/stupid.

q/selection: their weakest beer is likely hoegarden. they get their hands on seasonals and rarities from like Firestone's Parabola, Taps' Remy, and Hangar 24's Hammerhead. i always find several things worth taking/drinking on sight.

serv: every worker i've talked to is cordial, informative, knowledgeable, clearly passionate about great beer, and helpful. on one visit, my card was overcharged and they comped my beer. i don't know what more i could say.

f: they do not have a kitchen, but allow food in the bar. the neighboring pizza parlor makes a great pizza called "Chavez Ravine" - it was as delicious as what happened in Chavez Ravine was tragic!

value: great value, especially if you go on No Corkage Wednesday - where they waive the already minimal 2$ corkage fee for drinking any of their brews on site.

Can't think of a better bottleshop anywhere. Lots of rare and hard to find bottles and cans in the coolers. Great stuff on tap too...had Prairie Bomb! here for the first time. Definitely get here when I can...highly recommended.
