Located in a converted firehouse, with high ceilings and a pretty open floor plan. Large U-shaped bar in the back with plenty of seats. Vibe is somewhere between a sports bar and a beer place. Friendly and unpretentious.
Quality and selection of beer is very good, about 12 taps and 20 or so cans or bottles. Good mix between local and more well known, and a good mix of styles as well. Everything is served in shaker pints, but I can live with that. Bartender was witty and friendly, as were the people at the bar, so I ended up staying here way longer than I thought I would.
Food was very nice, with mostly burgers of different varieties. I had the grilled cheeseburger, which was very good and not ridiculously huge.
Overall, a really nice place for a burger and beer when you want something more casual and not overly hipster. Would absolutely go here again.

I generally visit Station 2 towards the late night hours. I work in the area at a restaurant and they serve food till 1 am. The bar is generally somewhat full with regulars, so the vibe is a bit more of a neighborhood bar. They nearly always have a few beers on tap I'm interested in trying. They have around 12 taps featuring a good selection of Virginia beers. Occasionally you'll find some out of state stuff, but they seem to stick to the locals. Food is decent, good selection of burgers with a variety of styles. Besides that it's mostly pub fare, sweet potato tots, tempura fried green beans, deviled eggs, etc. Service is not always great, at least at the bar. I've spoken with the owners before and they are passionate about beer and good food, but the same passion doesn't always transfer to the bar staff. I have had a good experience with certain bartenders, but others seem more interested in catering to the get wasted crowd. I get it, beer lovers don't always rack up big checks or come back 4 times a week. Most of the bartenders do seem to try the beers and have some decent understanding of what they are serving. You can find yourself waiting a few minutes to order or get another beer. My pet peeve with the place is their printed lists are almost always wrong. There are generally at least a couple beers that are inaccurate. If you are visiting Richmond its worth a trip if you're downtown. Though these days I generally go a few more blocks to 23rd and Main, for good pizza and a generally better beer selection, more national stuff there, but still most of the better local stuff.

To describe the place I would tell an out of towner that it's a good place for a burger and fries but not the best, and it's a good place to find a local beer you've probably hadn't seen before but nothing too great. I only ate some fries, and they were alright, my stepson said his grilled wings and burger were some of the best he ever had and my wife ordered a burger well (yeah, I know,) and on first bite pink juice squirted out so take your pick. Server and manager were apologetic and polite whole time so no complaints. As for the place itself looks like a place you just hangout and eat, or smoke a cigar outside, but not really a beer bar per se. Beer selection when I went was mostly local from around Richmond and central VA so nothing spectacular but stuff I can't really get down here at the beach. Not a bad place and worth stopping by for a bite if you're visiting but nothing amazing.

This is a classic burgers and beer joint except that the burgers are free-range and prepared in 20-30 different delicious ways (beef, turkey or veggie any way you like) and the beer selection is really great.
Station 2 leans on the local brews from Virginia and nearby states and the taps show that they give a lot of thought and care to the selection of their beers. They also have an interesting selection in cans and bottles and the servers and bartenders are great fun and make you feel at home. Well worth a stop if you're in the neighborhood.

I loved this place. Went there with my kids just prior to seeing the circus. It's in an old firehouse which is kind of cool.
Beer - They had around 10 or so taps, many local beers and all were solid. I had Devils Backbone (VA brewer) and Hardywood (Richmond brewer). I actually hope this is a local trend. You don't need to have 100 taps, just give me 5 to 10 decent ones and I'm a happy camper!
Food - Most of the food is locally sourced. Burgers are their big thing and ours were really good. Hand cut fries were good as well.
They also have homemade milk shakes which were awesome (I had a few sips of my kids shakes). They even had adult shakes which was a neat twist.
Parking can be a little challenging in this part of town but we found a space about a block up.
Overall, I would recommend this. It's a place you can go with your buddies and watch sports on TV (only a few TVs but still)or go with the family for dinner.

This place is new and fantastic. They have a good draft selection (Even with Growler fills) of all micro-breweries, including a lot of local beer (Their main thing is that most of the food is local as well, so local beer just fits with that) , and some great food items.
At the time I went they had Dogfishhead, Hardywood Park, Starr Hill, and Founders all on Draft, among some others. They have some bottled and can beer. I remember seeing Guinness, some New Belgium stuff on that list. But with the a great draft list why order a bottle?
The food is great and not too expensive, and it claims to be mostly local. Burgers are the main menu item, but their are a few others to choose from. The food is normally well-cooked, and service is fine, but not fantastic.
The place used to be a firehouse, and it shows. They have done a great job creating a nice place for locals to hang out at. There is a little bar, a small outdoor patio, and plenty of tables. I definitely recommend for locals, or someone on a business trip who just needs a place to eat and have a good beer.
