a nice clean pour with 2 fingers white head, patchy lacing. a citrusy sweet scent, fruity, malty, pine hops.
seems like a lot is lost in the taste. all the flavors blend together into a confusing mess of sweetness.
medium body, low carbonation, small amount of creaminess.
it's a surprisingly tasty ipa form a brewer i have never even heard of before. a solid go to for those local to it.

Appearance – This is a beautiful, light shiny copper in color with a huge, lasting, lacing head.

Smell – The easy, light, but potent hop profile is lemon with some light grapefruit. It is very soft on the nose and pleasant.

Taste – The hops are similar at the taste and I get a light malt compliment. This is very well balanced and flavorful without being harsh.

Mouthfeel – This AIPA is shy of medium-bodied and smooth as if poured on cask. Carbonation is light.

Drinkability – This literally goes down like water. It manages to be flavorful without being harsh and is one of the smoothest beers I’ve ever had out of a can.

Bottle

Thanks for opening this with me, Nathan!

Slightly hazed gold, nearly amber, with a moderately sized near-white head that leaves sticky lines of irregular lace down the glass. Nice and appropriate.

The aroma has some lemon, slight orange, and some bread character to it. This is slightly better than average, I suppose, though that might be a bit generous.

A somewhat sweet IPA, especially compared to the classic West Coast heavy hitters. The flavors are well rounded, integrated, and drinkable, and the citrus hop flavors have a lemon component to them.

Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

An average IPA, though not at all undrinkable.

Yellow to darker gold colored beer, white head. Smells of grapefruit and pine hops, although a little muted.

Taste, better hop mouthfeel, more citrus, more pine. Good fruity hop mouthfeel, not just bittering hops here. Was enjoyable, had this at Papago in Pheonix, with their garlic chicken pizza, this definitely is a good beer w garlic, enjoyed it. Would recommend.

Poured a semi-clear amber body with one finger of foamy head. Overall impression of appearance is of a very true to form IPA, quite nice. Scents of tropical fruit, with a large amount of pineapple, with lesser amounts of ripe mango, very small amounts of vegetal hop aromas are present in the background and a rather sweet, high level of pale malt aromas with notes of caramel predominating. Overall impression of aroma is of a very odd, yet rather simple IPA. Quite sweet in aroma for the style, and dominated almost entirely by tropical fruit in the hop aromas, it is an odd aroma profile. Not unpleasant, but quite unorthodox. Flavor begins moderately sweet with notes of pineapple juice, preserved orange and sweet pale malt with very light notes of pine resin and muddled hoppy flavors. Middle picks up in bitterness rapidly to become medium-high in bitterness with notes of pine resin, light pineapple flavors and a firm pale malt backbone with notes of caramel and some muddled hop flavors that are sort of earthy. Finish is bitter with notes of pine resin, dank, earthy, yet muddled, hop flavors, pale malt at medium-light levels offering caramel sweetness to balance and a light pineapple juice flavor. Aftertaste is simply bitter, indeterminate hops and light bready malt flavors. Overall impression of flavor is of a rather sweet IPA at first, that picks up in bitterness rapidly and becomes on point in bitterness for the style. However the hop flavors imparted are very muddled and do not work well with the very apparent malt, leading to a rather unbalanced, unsatisfying whole. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium-low carbonation and a sticky, resinous feel that feels just a tad too sticky. Overall impression of mouthfeel is of a mostly true to for IPA that lacks a bit because of the impression of a stronger and stickier body than the style needs. Overall this is a decent IPA, when compared to the likes of Redhook IPA and some of the grocery store and off-brand examples. There is nothing overly wrong with it and the hops are present enough that it isn't a waste of time like some bad examples of the style, however there are far better options.

I've had this on several different occasions and this batch that I am now drinking (4-26-2016) is the best one I've got to try. Definitely a worthy cheap 6 pack with this taste. Dry tasting with light citrus fruits coming through.

Nose of raisins, ripe oranges, caramel malts and cantaloupe. The taste is very malty for an IPA. It is caramel, toffee, some resiny notes, honey and ripe melon. Definitely not one of my favorite IPAs and probably bottom of the list for AZ. Sorry, guys.

Pours a dark gold with a nice white head.

Nose is nice fresh pineapple indicative of an IPA. This one has some nice and clean "fresh white bread" yeast character and tones.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with nice carbonation and a nice balance.

Flavors are medium to full assertive grapefruit and pine bitter.

Finish follows flavor profile and this finishes big with grapefruit and pine. A decent effort.

This is oily on the tongue. Citrus hop is understated for the style.

Look: Golden to light amber in color. Small, white head that dissipates quickly into a thin film. Nice amount of fine bubbles rising to the surface. Looks nice.

Smell: Significant sweet malt aroma for an IPA. Hops are present but smell muddled even though this is a fresh bottle. Some citrus aroma but it is overpowered by muddled hops. Honestly, the aroma is disappointing.

Taste: Very similar to smell. Muddled hops dominate with a background of too sweet malt flavor. There is bitterness enough for the category but it is not a pleasant bitter. After taste is not good. All in all, it is drinkable but not enjoyable.

Feel: Thick and slightly syrupy. Right amount of carbonation for the weight of it. All in all a pleasant mouthfeel. If only the taste was better.

Overall: I'm hoping that this was a bad batch or stored improperly before I purchased it. I have had some great brews by Mudshark but this one is not included on that list. Definitely would be willing to try again down the road.

Bottle poured into a BarrelHouse Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours golden amber with a frothy light tan head that settles to a light layer and leaves some nice lacing.

S: Citrus, candied orange, floral, bready malt, and honey sweetness.

T: Floral, lemon, orange, a little spice, a bit grassy, maybe even a little fruity, with some bready malt and honey sweetness. The finish has a fairly rough bitterness and a little alcohol that comes out.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation.

O: I grabbed a single bottle on a trip through Arizona. No bottling date to be found which always makes me nervous. Given the other reviews I can't imagine the bottle I got displays anything too out of the norm. I'd be willing to give it a second chance under more controlled circumstances, but for now I'm not a fan.

Pale Amber/gold pour with thin off white foam and good lace. Floral/earthy hop nose. Citrus/floral/earthy hop flavors with a bitter hop finish. Lite mouthfeel, with dusty dry bitter tongue coating. A well balanced IPA overall.
