Look: Golden to light amber in color. Small, white head that dissipates quickly into a thin film. Nice amount of fine bubbles rising to the surface. Looks nice.

Smell: Significant sweet malt aroma for an IPA. Hops are present but smell muddled even though this is a fresh bottle. Some citrus aroma but it is overpowered by muddled hops. Honestly, the aroma is disappointing.

Taste: Very similar to smell. Muddled hops dominate with a background of too sweet malt flavor. There is bitterness enough for the category but it is not a pleasant bitter. After taste is not good. All in all, it is drinkable but not enjoyable.

Feel: Thick and slightly syrupy. Right amount of carbonation for the weight of it. All in all a pleasant mouthfeel. If only the taste was better.

Overall: I'm hoping that this was a bad batch or stored improperly before I purchased it. I have had some great brews by Mudshark but this one is not included on that list. Definitely would be willing to try again down the road.

Nice dark golden body with a lasting foamy white head; lots of active carbonation. Rather subdued aroma; faintly malty with touches of citrus and grass. Light malt flavor with a build up of respectable hop bitterness at the finish. Medium bodied; semi-dry finish.

A fair but rather bland IPA. The relative lack of strong aroma is a let down. The flavor is okay with a good hop bitterness overall but a pretty lackluster malt base detracts from the overall appeal. I'm also puzzled by the label's wording of "SERVED FULL FLAVOR AND REAL COLD". I don't think an IPA is normally served "real cold" and for this beer, "real cold" might deaden the taste highlights such as they are at a more reasonable temperature. Oh, well. No, this isn't a mind-blowing IPA by any stretch, but I wouldn't turn down another one if I had limited choices for other IPAs. It's a fair but unexciting IPA offering.

Can it and go. 12 ounce can, on to the beer:

It's a bronzed orange color and topped with a frothy head. Good head retention sticks around on top. The hop aroma may smell a little faded, though it still has appeal. With grapefruit peel, a bittersweet citrus, and a touch of caramel, there's appeal to the aroma. Taste....starts off with bitter orange, then comes the grapefruit. The grapefruit gains some sweetness. In comes a vague citrus, which continues the fun in this IPA. It's medium bodied, not too bitter, and a pleasing beer to consume. I presume it's better than 98% of the beer consumed at Lake Havasu during Spring Break.
