Dark brown, ruby highlights, small head with sticky lacing. Smells of dark toast, caramel. Tastes also of nuts, a hop kick but well balanced. Full bodied mouthfeel just shy of creamy. I like it a lot!

This was a very good brown ale, and even though I'm not a big brown guy, I'd drink this one again. It's weird, because I really like most porters, and this one tastes a lot like a porter. Maybe that's why I liked it more than most browns I've had. Anyway, you get the strong toffee notes right away, and the chocolate and nut flavors come later, as do the hops. A bit of malt balances this out nicely, so you don't get overwhelmed by any one flavor. Nice work here.

12 oz. Can
Pours a nice dark brown color, nice carbonation, with a pretty nice small off-white head, which leaves some sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, with some chocolate/toffee, nutty. The taste is malty, nutty. Medium body, with a nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, a pretty tasty brew.

Look - Reddish dark amber when held up to the light. A thin off white head that quickly settles to a ring that sticks to the glass.
Smell - darker malt aromas are subtle but dominant with little hop presence.
Taste - toasted malt flavors are finely balance by hops. Finishes pleasantly dry with a great caramel aftertaste that lingers.
MF - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation
Overall - Very easy drinking brown.

(L): Brilliantly clear, amber/brown, low off-white head that quickly fades to just a collar in the glass.
(S): Sweet caramel and toffee with some light dark chocolate/roast over a bready and toasty base. Low citrus hop aroma.
(T): The caramel/toffee quickly gives way to roast and hop bitterness. Smooth bitterness. Hop flavor is resin and grapefruit that lingers.
(F): Medium-Low carbonation with a slightly thin body.
(O): A solid hybrid Brown with an English malt bill and American hops. The complexity of the aroma gets a little lost in the flavor with the hops taking center stage. Overall a good American Brown with a complex tasting malt bill, moderate bitterness and American hop aroma and flavor.

Poured from a 12oz can into a pint glass.
Appearance- a lighter shade of brown, though hazy and clearly unfiltered. Mild carbonation and a thin beige head. Lacing is decent, considering the thin head.
Smell - pleasing combination of chocolate, toffee, caramel and hazelnut!
Taste - flavor profile is far more English than American with an almost overpowering malt core that masks some of the sweetness from the flavors present in the nose.
Feel - a slightly watered down feel at first sip, but the body fills out as you drink and finishes off with a touch of bitter and dry.
Overall - surprisingly this is the first time I've tried this, considering it is fairly readily available here in CO. Once I saw it won another gold at GABF, I had to try. In all fairness, brown ale's aren't my style, so I'm harsh with my taste score. Perhaps I should pack one in the backpack during ski season for a chair beer and my opinion might change?!

Very solid and simple brown, good to have something beer flavored that can't be described in terms of coffee, citrus, or flowers.

Thanks Drevis.
A nice toasty/roasty malt character. Rounded off with the pale malt. Really malt forward. Only a touch of sweetness.
Nice brown color and and tan somewhat sticky head.
Well balanced flavors, but I 'd say a touch thin. Again malt forward holding similar features of the aroma. Again not that sweet and it is really cut by the grassy hop flavors that that slowly morph into the smooth and lingering bitterness.
A nice enjoyable brown ale. Hops largely in the middle to finish of taste.
