22oz bottle poured into my Great Lakes glass. Dark brown color with a frothy tan head filling the top inch of the glass. It's definitely light and thin looking for the style.

Aroma shows roasted malts, caramel and some milky chocolate. It's got a little more of a nutty quality to it reminding me a little of a brown ale.

Taste shows more of a roasted, slightly burnt flavor to it. The finish is dry with some roasted coffee notes. It's definitely got some of the nutty, milk chocolate flavors to it up front as well.

The mouthfeel feels very thin and watery for an oatmeal stout. Carbonation is moderate. Overall, a decent beer but not an outstanding one in the style. I thought it was more like a brown ale in a lot of aspects. Not nearly enough of the chocolate or oats coming through for what the label says.

Clear dark brown colored ale with a small tan colored head.

Chocolate and patent malt. Toasted bread and coffee with a little caramel.

Starts out sweet with a little chocolate and more coffee. Slight milky flavor abundant Lactose. That's about it, not super complex.

Mouthfeel is good.

Overall an average beer on the sweet side for the style.

Darker than coal miner's lungs with a thin white head into my glass. A-yup. No offense to actual coal miners.

Creamy with lots of roasted malt and a touch of cocoa. Seems about right to me. Wonder what it'll taste like.

Cocoa powder explodes upfront, leaving a chalky residue in the mouth. At least the roasted malt doesn't overpower.

Mouthfeel is slick but not enough to impress. Chalky cocoa powder dominates the rest.

I have to agree with the previous reviewer on the chalkiness. I can tell. This isn't the greatest example out there (I think Wolaver's Oatmeal Stout is the bees knees but that's just me) but it's also not as overproduced as Ass Kisser's other offerings.

Speaking of such, I couldn't think of a worse name for a brewery.

A: This poured a nearly opaque black ruby with a little light tan head.
S: It smelled like strong copper hops and bitter dark chocolate, with some dark roasted coffee and soy.
T: It tasted like bitter dark chocolate, with some dark roasted coffee and copper hops. It had a clean and bitter aftertaste.
M: It was watery with moderate carbonation. Light body.
D: This was a mediocre stout to be generous. The looks and scent and taste and body were all at or below average for the style. The finish was smooth, and the flavor was really light, so it was super easy to drink. But that's a really small silver lining to an otherwise unimpressive beer. I doubt it would age well either. Not recommended.

Strong, smoky aroma has notes of quality coffee, licorice and semi-sweet chocolate. Pours a dark chocolate brown that lets in a little light just at the edges and has a thick and fairly persistent tan head. Smoky flavor has coffee, licorice and chocolate notes with hints of caramel, woody hops and molasses. Body seems a bit thin for a stout, and fizz leaves something to be desired - but the texture is this beer’s only real weak point.

Poured somewhat gently into a standard pint glass. A dark brown, almost black liquid with over an inch of dark tan foam. Head starts out finely bubbled before transitioning to a chunky mess before settling to a chunky film. No lace.
Smell is light though notes of chocolate and malt are in there.
Taste is light as well though malt, dark chocolate and some cardboard are discernible.
Medium bodied and fairly smooth after the initial effervescence hit, drying finish. Body is a bit weaker than I'd like and the nose and taste are seriously weak but the flavor and balance are good.

22oz bottle from Total Wine (Kennesaw, GA). 8.99. Served in a Founders snifter.

Pours dark brown with three quarter finger light tan head. Small clumps of occasional lacing.

Smells metallic with cocoa, char and burnt sugar.

Tastes of cocoa powder, chalk, roasted malts and dark chocolate.

Light but creamy thin body with abundant carbonation. Bitter dry dark cocoa aftertaste.

I feel cheated on this one. For the same money (much less in many cases) there are far superior chocolate stouts available.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a large pint glass. Emerges nearly pitch black in color with some soft chocolate highlights. Head is nearly three fingers tall but is indicative of a beer with an infection: thin, wispy, and quick to leave. Minimal lacing.

Aroma has an alkaline acidity to it and is chalky. No hints of chocolate, or really much indicating this is a stout.

Flavor is light, slightly sour, chalky, minimal chocolate flavor, caramel, and hints of coffee.

A below average beer for sure. Light body with no chewiness, thin. Watery. Not a beer I would revisit.

A: Black body with a thick eggshell white foamy head that recedes to a thin ring around the glass.

S: Light notes of roasted coffee. I don't get any on chocolate on the nose.

T: Light roasted flavors similar to coffee. Slight acrid and acid bitterness which pinches then finishes clean. I don't get any chocolate flavor.

M: It feels over-carbonated. For an oatmeal stout I want something smooth and perhaps a bit slick. The carbonation it tingly and the beer has a slightly abrasive feeling on the palate.

O: Overall it's a decent stout, but it doesn't have any real chocolate flavor. It tastes more like coffee or a regular stout, and the oatmeal doesn't lend any character to the beer. I really wouldn't recommend it to a person who's looking for an oatmeal stout or chocolate stout.

I poured this big looking beer into my tumbler at 45 degrees. The beer poured very black with a serious giant tan head. Very impressive and I was hopeful. The smell was of roasted nuts. The beer had great lacing. However it was strange tasting with a bitter finish yet a too sweet beginning. Very conflicting brew. I will not buy it again.
