A: Pours a clear medium dark brown in color with light amounts of gentle visible carbonation and some ruby red + amber highlights. The beer has a half finger tall sudsy light beige head that reduces to a medium sized patch of very thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of sweet malts with some notes of brown sugar and toffee along with some stronger aromas of bourbon, vanilla, oak, and just a hint of dark fruits (cherry and raisin).

T: Upfront there is a sweet malty flavor that include light to moderate amounts of brown sugar, toffee, and dark fruit (cherries and raisin). That is quickly overtaken by the stronger flavors of bourbon and some not quite as strong flavors of caramel, vanilla, and oak. Slight notes of yeastiness in this one as well.

M: Slightly less that medium bodied with light to moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly thin.

O: Not quite sure how I feel about bourbon barrel aging an altbier - I love bourbon barrel aged beers and enjoy altbier quite a bit (especially after spending a week or so in Dusseldorf) but I'm not completely sold on this combination. It is interesting and worth a try but not one I will be attempting to find again.
