A massive thanks goes out to bross242 for bringing this one out during cmrillo’s 40 Beers* @ 40 Birthday Bash! Served from growler into a Mikkeller taster flute. Poured a massively dark reddish brown with a half finger tan head that subsided to a minimal amount quickly. Maintained decent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, fruit, spices, and wood. The flavor was of sweet malt, fruit, banana, spices, wood, dark fruit, and dark chocolate. It had a medium feel on the palate with medium carbonation. Overall this was a fairly good brew. There was a lot going on here that kept your palate on its toes. The dark fruit aspect on the flavor added a nice touch with the lighter fruit that I picked up on. I really didn’t know what to expect from this one going into it, but was pleasantly surprised. Definitely worth trying if you get the opportunity.

Growler courtesy of drabmuh. Served in a 7venth Sun tulip.
Pours a cola color with a thin light tan head and some spots of lacing. The nose carries some beets and dark fruits. Some plum and a touch of caramel. The beets come through in the flavor as well. Light sweetness and some dark fruits. Medium body with adequate carbonation. Interesting beer.

Pours a rather dark brown color, maybe chestnut or mahogany? Aromas of toast with a mild roasted quality. It’s somewhat heavy on the booze with a decent amount of dark fruit and some toffee sweetness. The flavor is sort of bland, though it does have a bit of sweet fruit and sugar/toffee character to it. There’s also a mild metal note. Just sort of okay at best.

Served from a growler into a 7venth sun glass. Because it looks cool.
Beer is dark brown and clear with a thin cap of a head some lacing, moderate retention, some carbonation.
Aroma is roasty, yeasty, sweet.
Beer is like a Belgian porter I guess, but lighter and more bitter on the finish. Everyone hated this beer but I thought it was fine, not great just fine. I won't have it again though.

Growler shared by drabmuh. Thanks Matt.
The beer is a dark chestnut brown shade with a small tan head. The aroma brings some sweet malt, candy, toffee, dark fruit. The flavor offers much of the same, with some notes of sweet maple syrup. Some yeast character emerges midway through, gaining strength as the beer warms a bit. Raisins and brown sugar contribute to the sweet nature of the beer. Light carbonation and light to medium bodied. Overall, this is too sweet and candy like. More yeast and malt character in lieu of booze and sweetness would be a welcome improvement. Ehh...
