Poured from a 12oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.
A: The beer is a deep dark brown color, with a thin off-white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.
S: The aroma is faint but contains roasted malts, caramel, maple, nuts and a touch of hops.
T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of maple, caramel, nuts and some dark fruit. Then a hearty malt character comes in along with a touch of smokiness. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet and slightly bready.
M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.
O: Tasty and good complexity for the style, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, this is a solid beer to drink for a while if you’re in the mood for something in the style with just a small twist to it.

I'm normally bored by brown ales. However, the Beaver folks were giving samples at Stew Leonard's the other day, so I tried their entire lineup. Needless to say, we have a winner here.
A - Hugh frothy head that fades nicely. Color par for the course.
S - Nice oak and vanilla notes. The oak really adds a lot of nuance to both the smell and the taste.
T - Delicious! Everything good about a brown ale, but very much enhanced by the oak aging. Strong vanilla notes, and a delicious malt backbone accentuated by the little bit of cocoa that was added in the brewing. Everything is nuanced, and thus each sip really gives you something to think about as you enjoy it. Definitely not your standard boring brown ale. The oak really compliments the traditional brown ale flavors well.
M - Clean, light, easy to drink.
This is advertised as a winter beer, but it's so tasty and so light that it is fine all year round. Overall, we have a delicious, sessionable brown ale with strong distinguishing features. Bravo.

Poured a dark brown with a finger of light head. Light lacing.
The carbonation died of quickly, but it's an easy drinker, with good flavors. I did expect more of an oak flavor though. Not that different than their Brewnette, which is not a bad thing. Overall a good brown ale. I would pick up another one.
