i have no idea why this beer sits and sits on shelves, its an understated but well made irish red, something really lacking in this beer market. deep copper to brick red in color, clear though with a fine luster. the head rises over an inch, oatmeal colored and frothy, but recedes quickly. it smells a little mineral laced, with plenty of sweet and dry amber and red malts. not super irish in nature, but a dryer beer for a red, with lots of earthiness and a huge nutty profile as it finishes. light in flavor, almost watery, despite feeling rather rich and at least upper medium in body. the flavor doesn't even really come on until the swallow, an odd experience and one that makes this seem a little dull. maybe freshness is an issue here, given its presence on the shelves, but i don't see many flaws with the execution of a rather boring recipe. decent carbonation and a lathery feel. it works in cold weather.

I would say the weakest link in this beer would be the feel. It has a malty body, but not chewy and a bit flat. A zing in the end helps, but it just feels thin.

With that, it is an easy drinking beer. It's a deep red pour, with a minimal head. That's the second weakest link. Just doesn't have that body of head.

Malt and tea tannin are present in the flavor profile. A bit of an earthy zip. Soft bread, not really all that sweet. Toasty and tasty. I served at cellar temperature, and it could use some coldness. The carbonation, or lack thereof, really needs work. That would help this beer reach a higher threshold as there aren't many I-Reds out there that are good

Reddish copper body topped with a nice foamy head; lots of good carbonation. Sweet malts with an ever so slight hint of cherry and honey in the aroma. Caramel and biscuit malt flavors greet you and then transition to a nice hop bitterness to finish off the sip; slight unsweetened tea-like flavor the finish, too, just like it's the style is described in the BA beer style guide. Smooth and medium-light body with a clean, semi-dry finish.

A fair enough Irish red ale; good malt character throughout with just the right touch of bitterness to balance things out, but the tea-like astringency starts dominating a tad too much as the glass drains. I don't really know if this will be a seasonal beer or not, but I'm guessing at the availability since this is a new beer and did come on scene in time for St. Patrick's Day. In any case, it's definitely worth a try.

Pours an SRM of about 14, nice butter colored head, sticks around awhile. 80 percent opaque.

Lots of rich copper malts and apple skins on the nose, with a hint of caramel sweetness and Bartlett pear.

Flavor brings that apple out front, swirling with a sweet caramel malt body and some polite hop juice. The finish is pure roasted barley. Fruity esters remain on the palate.

Feel is light to medium, mild carbonation and a semi dry finish.

Overall i think ill be grabbing a sixer for my band to try. This beer is SERIOUS.
