Tap at Good Bottle Co back in February.
Cloudy orange/gold pour. Finger of white head. A small amount of lacing left on the glass.

Aroma, Pretty herbally, some sage and clove. A fair yeasty component.

Taste, Italian spice blend with a nice biscuity malt. Pretty straight forward. Some nice caramel and chocolate like accents as it warms.

Carbonation is right where I like it, not overly rambunctious. Just above light bodied. Only weakness is that is seems a tad watery.
This was my first from these guys, I enjoyed it.

Had heard that this is a new recipe, and have to agree that this is pretty good, even for Mystery. Def not a fan of this brewery, but this was a very nice saison. Fruity, hoppy, and earthy, nice and balanced.

Poured into a Dogfish Spiegelau glass. Sample 12 oz. bottle from the brewery.

A- Pours a dark amber color with a 3/4 inch tan head that melts away quickly to a thin ring around the edge of the glass and random patches of bubbly surface foam. Not-so-resilient lacing leaves small clots behind.

S- Alcohol, yeasty effervescence and some strange smell I can't identify.

T- Certainly unique with the yeast creating a sort of murky base for the unusual spices to play off of. Slightly sweet as the biscuity malt brings a different dimension to what I thought a saison should be.

M- Milky in texture with medium carbonation and a body leaning toward the fuller side.

O- Such a different approach to the saison style. I understand that they're trying to get that autumnal quality from the higher malt content but it doesn't fully mesh well with the yeast and spices. Either way, quite drinkable and there's nothing particularly wrong with it.

Appearance: The amber liquid arrives capped by a modest head that leaves a few strands behind

Smell: Caramel, pear, white pepper and grass

Taste: Caramel flavors lay down the backbone, with pears and an herbal, slightly grassy, tone developing, in the middle; a hint of tart apple and farmhouse funk builds into the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: An interesting saison - maltier than is typical but with a hoppy presence, as well

Sampled from a 22oz bottle purchased at The Beer Dispensary in Apex, NC. No date.

The fill seemed surprisingly low. The beer didn't even make it into the neck. So I marked the level and decided to do some testing after I poured the beer. It turns out that it was short 3/4 oz which is 3.5% of the expected 22oz. That's not huge but that's not a good start.

A - Golden and clear with a moderate head of large white bubbles that dissipate quickly.

S - Nice saison aromas with notes of fruit, funk and bubble gum.

T - Black pepper, fruit and funk. Some hop flavor coming through but little bitterness. Decent flavors but not great. The finish was slightly sweet and more then I like in a saison.

M - A moderate consistency and carbonation.

O - A decent beer but not remarkable. I'll give Mystery another try down the road but I'll check on the fill level first.

16 oz can poured into a tulip glass . Hard to read the date, but it was born on somewhere in October 2015.

A - Dark ruby, somewhat cloudy. Little to no head moves quickly to a thin lace.

S- Pear, heavy cider, slight yeast and grain notes.

T - Very much in line with the nose, with some allspice and mild dirt/funk. Bread and malt notes develop as it warms, but the pear and cider dominate.

M - Carbonation medium low, somewhat watery. At times, it gets sharp at the finish.

O - An interesting, if unusual, take on the saison.
