A rich, buttery oatmeal stout with undercurrents of cocoa and coffee. The grain additions in this beer are designed to impart chocolate, toffee, and caramel notes without overt bitterness, creating a smooth, drinkable stout. Aged on Dominican cocoa nibs; locally roasted coffee added in the fermenter.

These are local brewers from Hillsborough. I deliberately tried to tease out the head on this one but it wouldn't cooperate. It went to a cap and then zero very quickly. Aroma is heavy on the chocolate and roasted tones and some backing bitterness.
A little too much carbonation initially, but when you get to the flavor, its quite good, with plenty of coffee and roasted oats. Balanced nicely with hops, this nevertheless delivers on the promises of richness and butter. Solid complexity throughout. Give it a little time to warm.
No subtlety here, but there is flavor. For my money, it is quite true to the style. Good effort overall, but God knows how many calories it pumps. I'm not crazy about the can design either, for the record. Worth a definite try.

A: Pours an opaque yet still clear jet black in color with moderate amounts of gentle visible carbonation along the edges of the glass and faint dark cola brown highlights. The beer has a three finger tall foamy tan head that slowly reduces to a small to medium sized patch of thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate aromas of dark roasted malts with light to moderate aromas of chocolate/cocoa and cold brewed coffee.
T: Upfront there is a moderate to slightly stronger than moderate flavors of dark roasted malts with just a hint of caramel malt sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of dark chocolate/cocoa and light flavors of cold press coffee. Light to moderate amounts of lingering bitterness in the finish.
M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly thin/watery.
O: Easy to drink and very enjoyable - nice subtle flavors of chocolate and coffee. Wish this one had more of the creaminess I associate with oatmeal stouts but still quite easy to drink.

Poured into a Funky Buddha Brewery snifter. No freshness date.
A- Pours a fully opaque black color with a 1/8 inch medium brown head that bears little retention before deteriorating to literally no surface foam. No lacing.
S- Inviting aroma of chocolate and dark roasted malt. Moderate coffee and a bit of booze.
T- Very straightforward dark roasted malt flavor profile. I actually wouldn't have been able to tell you that chocolate or coffee was used in this since I'm really just getting the usual bitter notes that I get from any oatmeal stout. A bit of milk chocolate finally shows up in the aftertaste.
M- Slightly creamy with low carbonation and a full body.
O- It's decent but there are certain elements that fall flat...literally, since there's barely any carbonation and the chocolate and coffee haven't really lent any extra character to the beer.
