Brown to amber in color with a quarter inch of tightly knit brown foam resting on top. I'm getting some bready malt and faint dates in the aroma. The taste is fairly subdued, but i'm getting caramel and dates. I think the head from the chipotle peppers in the mouth is pretty faint, but I suspect it is because my can is about 11 months old.

Very mild for a chili beer, which is expected with the chipotle peppers. Easy drinking and quite tasty, with a little bit of heat for the after taste.

Canned on 12-10-13

Pours an effervescent copper/auburn with a pinky of sand colored head. Average head retention & lacing

S: Peppers, dark fruit

T: Figs, pears, & smokey pepper up front. Jammy notes as this warms, a touch of persimmon & a little more heat, a touch of golden raisin & drynesss as well. Finishes with subtle smokey heat, a whisper of leafy hops & pears/dates

MF: Medium bodied, slight carbonation

Subtle use of pepper heat & a nice sweetness to counter it. I'll take this over straight up heat, are you listening Stone? Drinks easy

I've been impressed with both beers I've tried from Piney River.

If you're looking for something a little more mild than habenero sculpin this is a great beer. Right away you get some heat which fades to a real gummy sweetness. The beer is a little surprising in that it finishes with that nice smokey chipotle zing. I thought this was a very nicely balanced beer. Great, non-overpowering, yet unique beer for the start of your next tasting event. Cheers Piney River!

Poured out a light brown color with a small, white head of foam. It smelled of chilies and peppers with a mild caramel nose. It tasted of mild chilie pepper bite with some caramel and bready malt. Not too hot. It was crisp, sharp and smooth. This is a nice chilie beer.

Pours a hazy, mahogany color. 1/3 inch head of an off-white color. Decent retention and poor lacing. Smells of sweet malt, citrus (dates and/or cherry), sweet malt, earthiness, pale malt, hint of hop. Fits the style of a Chile Beer. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. There is also a slight heat. Tastes of caramel malt, sweet malt, citrus, earthiness, hint of roasted malt, hint of hop, and slight chile. Overall, sweet, earthy, and citrusy; a great blend and the heat is the perfect amount.
