BEER INFO

Brewed by:
Piney River Brewing Co.
Missouri, United States | website

Style: American Black Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
In the Ozarks, the masked bandit is notorious for raiding the corn patch. Or, for finding—and eating—the perfectly ripe watermelon in the garden just before it's picked. Our handcrafted Masked Bandit India Pale Ale is a black rye IPA that is raccoon proof…as long as the raccoon in your neck of the woods isn't a hop head.

Canned 12/23/13

Pours an effervescent mahogany with 3 fingers of tan head. Sheets of lacing & lovely head retention

S: Big-time roastyness, some pine, some chocolate notes

T: Follows the nose, some baker's chocolate notes, underlying fig notes as well up front. Roastyness & dryness as this warms, some woody hops & charred grain, plus a little bit of bit of juicy hops, plus herbal & grapefruit hops. Finishes roasty with some charred grain, a bit of herbal hop bitterness & grapefruits

MF: Medium bodied, firm carbonation, nice balance

Drinks so easy, a very nice Black IPA

A - Poured a jet black color with a one-finger light brown color with a one-finger head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass.

S - It smelled of pine, roasted malt and subtle notes of chocolate.

T - It had a great piney bitterness with a burnt toast maltiness and hints of dark chocolate.

M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A medium bodied ale.

O - This was a really good Black IPA.

Poured from a can. Pours dark with a small white head that dissipated quickly. Smells of pine and malt. Pine and malt also come out in the taste, hints of raisin also. Overall a solid black ipa.
