Notes: Kräftig is the classic lager. Malt flavor up front with a slight sweetness, and a hop character that doesn't overtake it.

I’ll say this about this beer...it’s the best bargain I’ve ever gotten. Paid $11.65 (tax included) for a 30 pack. I’ve had way worse for triple the price.

not terrible, i will say that, these guys are capable of some way worse beers, namely the light edition of this, but this fuller bodied one has some positive attributes, as long as you drink it fast enough to keep it ice cold. it works with a grilled burger or chicken sandwich, and does have some real grain flavor to it before some of the adjuncty sweetness and metallics come in, but next to the light, these seem incredibly mild here. good carbonation and a frothy head and fuller bodied feel are essential here, its beerier feeling than a lot of these watered down budget beers, so i like that part for sure. some nuttiness is present in the taste, a cooked grain sweetness, faint honey, and aluminum. very little hops to this, a balancing bitterness at the end at all, but it doesnt start to taste too cheap until it warms up a bit. some oxidation and metals seem built in, but i dont hate the beer overall and would chose it over some others in this category. the kraftig light on the other hand, has absolutely no value and ranks among the worst beers ive ever put in my mouth...

Kräftig has a thick, off-white head, a hazy, bubbly, golden appearance, with heavy glass lacing. Aroma is of rich, pungent malt, sourdough bread, and some grass. Taste is of those elements, with mild bitterness. Mouthfeel is high medium, and Kräftig finishes crisp and clean.

This is a REALLY good German-style lager with strong (but not TOO strong) flavor. One of my go-to beers when I'm sick of the craft beers on the shelf. And relatively inexpensive, too. I highly recommend it. Tastes especially good with barbecue. And popcorn.

Brilliant gold with a fingernail of dishwater white around the rim and most of the top. The aroma is of faint German bittering hops. The taste is of light grassy hops and light malt. The mouth is crisp, light, and quaffable.

This is an unexceptional golden american lager with a nice white head (sudsy, with lace and a little staying power). The aroma is faint, with a bit of grain, grass, and not much else. The taste is a bit sweet, with a cereal note and limited bitterness or hop presence. It is a typical macro American Lager. Forgettable.

Appearance: Hazy dark golden in color, with a moderate, dense off-white head, with good retention. Thick, ragged tidemarks adorn the glass walls. A few fat bubbles drift lazily to the surface.

Aroma: Pale and caramel malt notes play off well against grassy and floral hops.

Taste: Opens with crisp pale malt and a little caramel, this provides the backbone of the taste. Soon after, grassy and herbal hops present, these compliment the malt well, offering a well-balanced taste. The finish sees the hops intensify just a bit, leaving a modest earthy and leafy presence at the close.

Mouth feel: Smooth and full, quite pleasant..

Drinkability/notes: A very well-made example of a familiar style, and serves to illustrate the point that macro brewers could offer a far better product than they presently do.

Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce aluminum can served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

This was advertised all over Missouri, billboards, gas stations, bait shops, bars, etc.
Guess all that Busch money has to go somewhere...

Bright pale gold, racing carbonation. Feeble head of foam that fades rapidly to a thin ring at the edges. Aromas of sliced apple, something vaguely sweet, corn maybe. Taste is slightly sweet with a dry finish, a little over carbonated and bland. Papery with an apple ester from the yeast, no hop flavor or bitterness. Overall it's pretty dull but clean, perfectly average.

Bottle pour. Not much head or lacing to speak of. This beer was basically okay. Typical adjunct lager, about the same as all the others. Give it a try, but don't expect much.

Visiting StL, saw ad on billboard and Googled for info which intrigued me. After numerous inquires found it at Syberg's. Had a draft, golden with a small amount of foam which stayed throughout the consumption. Crisp on the lips and going down but pleasurable. Taste is malty but on the crisp side. Not a smooth finish of a malty beer but no citrus or floral of a hoppy one. Very balanced. A good session beer.

Slightly darker color than I expect for a lager. A faintly burnt gold color. Still very clear with a very white head. The head is about a finger thick of exceptionally white bubbles. Almost no retention. Tight little lace that eventually falls from the glass.

The scent is barely noticeable. Kind of an Earthy, bready scent with hopping that leans toward the savory side.

Flavor is abundant, but picking specific ingredients is futile.

The mouthfeel of this beer is very pleasant. While slightly grainy, it's clean and crisp with a dry, refreshing finish and no aftertaste. Light bodied and free of any sense of alcohol or buttering agents, it makes for a good thirst quencher.

While not a lager fan, this was very acceptable. Easy to drink, flavorful, crisp, and sessionable.

This tastes like what I imagine Budweiser tasted like before corporate greed took over. Still not going to kick you in the face with flavor, but what is there is pleasant. This is a nice sessionable lager that would be very easy to throw a few back of.

A - Poured a translucent, almost hazy (was expecting crystal clear), deep gold color. Poured with no head that didn't leave any lacing.

S - Sweet grain and a little citrus from the hops.

T - Sweet grain with just barely enough hops to balance. Very clean aftertaste. Wish there were more hops. Tastes yeasty to me too. I'm tasting something else familiar, but can't put my finger on it. Almost tastes like wheat. Maybe my taster is off tonight. Nothing bad though. Maybe it's not filtered?

M - Surprisingly full mouth feel. Crisp clean beer flavor. Carbonation tingles nicely on the tongue.

O - It's pretty good for what it is. It's not going to win any major competitions but it's a tasty, clean and unoffensive american pale lager. I think i'd like it better with another point or two of attenuation and about 50% more hops. After 3 I'm starting to get full.

This is a nice light beer. It looks a little clear, maybe watery, but it's a lighter lager. Not sure you want it dark, or heavy. Not much of a smell to speak of. The taste is smooth. Sipping these poolside or at a summer picnic, will not be a problem. It's a tasty, smooth lager. Something, that's not all that popular or common today. I like it alot.

Clear and yellow/tan with a surprisingly decent head, lots of bubbles, some lace.

Aroma is quite subdued, with some graininess and a little sweetness.

Taste is ok, not great but decent enough. A little sweetness accents a primarily grainy flavor, with a little touch of hops, but not really enough.

Body is pretty good. It's got a bit of thickness to it, despite being quite easy to drink and well carbonated.

Overall it's decent enough for the masses. Won't make the craft beer front page but it ain't bad. Needs more hops, this would greatly improve this beer.

A - Poured out a clear, golden-orange color with almost no head. It left no lacing.

S - It smelled of caramel and faint floral notes.

T - It tasted of sweet caramel and grains. There was a mild spicy hop bitterness.

M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A light to medium bodied lager with a dry finish.

O - This is okay. There are better pale lagers out there.

Just a blah beer all around. Pours out clear with good carbonation and little to no head retention.
Smell is Bud/Bud Lite/Busch. Nothing stands out.
Taste isn't bad it just isn't all that good either.
Mouthfeel is too clean for my tastes. Little to no retention here too.
Overall just a plain jane beer that would be good in a can while sitting on the lawnmower.

Pale straw color and completely transparent. Weak head forms with poor retention and some lacing.

Smell is clean with bread grains and leafy hops.

This actually tastes a lot better than I expected. Smooth, unskunked pale malt and corn husk flavors. Spinach leaf hop flavor. Descent balance and crisp finish.

Light feel as expected. Way overcarbonated! No surprise since this was certainly force carbonated.

Overall a descent lager and much better than most brews coming from AB. I decided to keep an open mind when trying this and was pleasantly surprised. Not something I am going to drink on a regular basis but I would choose this over Budweiser.

A: Pours a clear golden color with a fluffy head that fades to bits of lacing.

S: Mild aroma of malt sweetness, bit of hops and some fresh grain. Smell is fresh and clean.

T: Taste of mild sweetness, grain and hint of citrus. Mild bitterness and a clean finish.

F: Light body, crisp, smooth and refreshing.

O: Nice beer for what it is. Nothing fancy just a good alternative to the BMC offerings. Worth a try.

Pours a golden, clear color. 1/3 inch head of a white color. Decent retention and slight lacing. Smells of pale malt, hint of sweet malt, and a hint of hops. Fits the style of an American Pale Lager. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of pale malt, hint of wheat, hint of sweet malt, and a hint of hop. Overall, average or slightly better than average in all categories.

This beer pours a clear golden color with a very thin bright white head that forms on the pour and quickly dissipates to nothing.

The aroma is everything you would expect. Pale bready malt, lightly sweet, and not much else.

The taste is not that bad considering. There is a very light hop bitterness which is accompanied by some pale grain which adds a bit of bread.

The mouthfeel is watery, light, and efforvescent.

Overall this beer is ok as an adjunct lager, but terrible as an American Pale Lager. I would assume it has adjuncts in it, and if it does you'd be doing the beer a huge favor to recategorize it. This beer to me is possibly the best marketing scheme of all time. My thoughts on that are extremely long and not worthwhile so I'll omit them.

I love this beer for many reasons. First, being from the St. Louis area, I am so happy to see the Busch family back at the helm of the empire that Augie started. Second, the fact they made the beer similar to Budweiser in an insanely close way...without the "skunky" aftertaste, that I'm sure did not exist long ago. Third, IT IS NOT OWNED BY INBEV!.

Appearance is a great golden color, good head retention... oddly similar to Budweiser ;)

Smell is crisp, can smell the better grains being used.

Taste - Can taste the grains and unique hops with a nice balance, some hint of citrus (different yeast) clean finish. Can definitely tell it is a different yeast used.

Mouthfeel - Light/ slightly Medium bodied

Overall - Yes, this is a mass produced brew, but I am not comparing this to craft beers, , I'm making a fair comparison to other mass brews, and this one really was surprisingly pleasan. If I was sitting at a bar, and the choices were the basics (Bud, Bud Light, Coors, Michelob, Miller, etc...) there would be no second guessing this chocie. Can drink this anytime. Would be happy to purchase again.

Poured this American Pale Lager from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. It poured a clear straw color, produced a thin white head, below average retention, and left a below average amount of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of pale malt with some citric hop aroma. Light in body, the mouthfeel is nice for a Pale Lager, the backbone of this ale is of pale malt, it is slightly sweet, and has a decent amount of citrus hops. Nice clean finish, outside of the poor retention and being a little thin it is a decent example of a pale later, nice alternative to Bud and Miller.
