Beer bottle (33 cl.) purchased from Chez Clem and tasted in 2013.

Appearence : black color with small tan foam head.
Smell : roasted malt and coffee aromas.
Taste & mouthfeel : roasted malt and dark chocolate flavors, leading to a dry toasted finish.
Drinkability : a good beer in the style Imperial Stout

Shared this with my buddy Arithmeticus who was kind enough to share this from his travels from France.
A: Black, little visible carbonation, thinnish pour with a tan head, which dissipated quickly.
S: Not much to note-- a bit boozy with a standard kind of porter/stout nose
T: Not complex but intense dark roast grains and hints of anise/licorice
M: Medium mouthfeel, but decent really
O: This is a decent offering, and I'm glad I tried it. The 9%ABV didn't hurt either. Would I have it again? Only if I could have in France.

This one was a little sweet and rich for me, especially at the end of a long trip to Belgium, but I enjoyed it.

Despite the name this is not like Russian imperial stout. This beer has nice body with a big roasted malts and nuts presence. The chestnut is particularly present. The hop doesn't show its face or with only some earthy notes. It's balanced but more on the malt side. It's a bit sweet in taste but semi-dry in the mouthfeel. I'm awaiting to try the liqueur d'orange barrel aged version it might be quite nice

Poured chilled in standard ale glass

A: medium head, creamy; modest carbonation; solid black; crap on cap
S: stinks to high heaven; anise; dark roast; smells boozy
T: amazing; intense stout; chocolate; rich flavor
M: thin

Really a very fine stout; complex and interesting; definitely worth getting when you pass through France.
