Style: American Porter

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
With notes of coffee and dark chocolate, this Porter is roasty and rich, with a robust, yet smooth body. Toasted malts give it a sinister black color, but its crisp taste will have you believing that there’s no more need to be afraid of the dark.

Lager malt, munich malt, chocolate malt, bavarian hops, with the slight addition of authentic icelandic roasted coffee.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle.

Look - dark brown, but translucent. two finger head with considerable lacing.
Smell - chocolate, roasted malts, and some woodsiness from hops. rather refreshing actually.
Taste - smokiness initially, followed by a bite of hoppiness and a clean finish.
Feel - medium bodied (on the lighter side) with decent carbonation.
Overall - the beer might be dark in color, but it's actually pretty crisp and refreshing. Has a nice collection of flavors, though they aren't all very pronounced. Nice brew.

I always get a tad nervous when I try an offering, the first one, from a brewer I have not ever tried before. There's nothing more rewarding than being rewarded for giving the new brewer for a try - Thank You Einstok...

A beautifully dark, practically black porter, it pours a nice dark tan foam with decent staying power and lacing down the entire pint glass. The smell was a mixture of roasted malts, dark chocolate and the distinctive scent only a porter can have - which to my mild surprise - translated to the taste as well, particularly the toasted malts with the rich flavor of what i noted as dark chocolate. The mouthfeel was a bit carbonated, but not distracting, with a medium-bodied weight, still easily drinkable. Overall I was so thankful to find another brewer that I got started off on the right foot and now can look (happily) for more of what they produce.

330 mL bottled 5/30/17 poured into a tulip glass at fridge temp 6% ABV. The beer pours dense very dark brown with sticky chocolate tan colored head. The head settles to a ring and thin cap leaving substantial lacing. The aroma is coffee, chocolate and roast malt intermingled. The flavor is rich dark roasted malt with dark cocoa. Mouthfeel is thinner than medium, adequately carbonated and roasty dry in the finish. Overall, very good. This is a quite complex and enjoyable porter. I had skipped over this brewery in the past believing they would be a gimmick (from Iceland), but this is well crafted.

Cool it's made with Icelandic water but is very watery. Not too malty or chocolatey as I like porters to be. Okay beer but not worth its $15 a 6 pack price tag. Taste is very commercial.

On tap at a Norwegian kiosk - Epcot, Disney World
Pours a cola-like color with a tall creamy tan head that slowly fades to a thin foam. Dark malts, anise, chocolate, and dark bread crust for an aroma. Good porter flavors with more chocolate, toasty grain, coffee, anise, earthy hops, and a hint of soy sauce. Medium body, quite acidic, but does finish well balanced. I would have liked the coffee to come through a bit more, but overall, a tasty brew to try while at Epcot.

Look: Black, can't see any light through it. 2 fingers of tan head.

Smell: Chocolate and toasted malt and smoke.

Taste: Chocolate and toasted almonds and coffee.

Feel: Medium mouthfeel.

Overall: First had it on tap at Epcot and was blown away. The bottles are not as impressive but still a great Porter.
