Style: American Pale Ale (APA)

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.60%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
American and Bavarian craft come together with the finest Icelandic water to create the Viking version of the Pale Ale, where robust hoppiness meets smooth malty undertones. Cascade hops give it the American character, while Northern Brewer hops add just enough bitterness to make this Ale refreshingly Icelandic.

Bottle.

A: Moderately light hop aromas of citrus and light pine with a bit of malt sweetness.

A: Copper/orange color, with moderate white uniform head with adequate retention and a touch of lacing in the glass.

T: Moderate hop flavors of citrus and pine with a slight earthiness, light malt support, slight mineral note, coupled with a light hop bitterness and a semi-dry finish.

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation with a bit of a soft mouth-feel.

O: Solid; the beer is well put together, though the hop profile could be more prominent. The water provides an interesting mineral character with a soft mouth-feel, making the beer easy to drink.

The current brew of Icelandic APA is a winner. My rating much higher than BAs. APA is a fave style.

Fresh glass bottle into Sam Adams Pint.
A) Pours a mostly clear, orange/copper Body with a 2 finger dense, creamy off white head with great retention and cascades of steamy lace.

S) Complex and abundant aromas of tangerine, lemon and orange zest, pepper, pine, caramel, herbaln and floral/grassy earthy hop. Abundant creamy caramel as it warms. Would like to taste against Dales Pale.
T) Taste follows smell of tangerine, orange and lemon zest, pepper, pine, caramel, with more herbal and floral/grassy hops and a peppery, clean finish. Pine/citrus peel/spicy bitterness on the finish. Nice malt/bitterness balance, and clean scrubbing finish. Good food beer.
F) Creamy with strong carbonation and mid weight body; continuing with a smooth and cream, sticky balanced mouthfeel.
O) Way more flavor than most APAs or beers at 5.5% ABV. Must try 24.

This is a great ale, especially to accompany a vegetable dish. How anyone can not like this is beyond me.

Floral aroma with a malty aftertaste. Its a bit heavier than most pale ales but its pretty good. It has a slightly bitter aftertaste but its unique.

Bottom Line: It's worth a try but its not your moms pale ale.

It poured a orange/Cooper color with a malty aroma to it. The taste is very malty with a bit of hop flavor at the end. It has a medium body to it and very drinkable. Overall I really enjoyed this beer. It was more malty than a normal pale ale but still a nice offering.

Poured from a brown 11.2 oz. bottle. Has a copper/orange color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of malts, some herbal scents. Taste is malts, caramel, light herbal notes, little to no bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.
