12 oz. can poured into a tulip

A- Pale orange with yellow highlights, and hazy. Sturdy white head stands at 1/4". Some lacing.

S- Balance of grain, yeasty spice, and a fruitiness.

T- Yeasty. Sweet, but not snappy. A little fruit. Slight dry spice.

M- Wet and sweet. A little sweet and semi-dry finish.

O- Not as citrusy and snappy as I like my saisons. A bit of a hybrid between Wit and Saison, in my opinion.

A big thanks to the creator of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of malts, fruits, yeast. Taste is the same, some fruits, malts, a bit of spice, tasty and easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.

A- Somewhat murky golden yellow pour to several pint glasses to share. A thick, puffy white head forms over a finger with good retention. Thick ring leaves plentiful sheets and webs of lace.

S- Saison yeast spice and zest with a large amount of what reminds me of a sour mashed Berliner. Hefty cracked wheat and a definite lactic bacteria influence.

T- Follows the nose quite well with a mix of Saison yeast and something that really feels like a Berliner with only a mild tartness. Huge wheat, oily orange peel, coriander, pepper, lactic funk and bread.

MF- Pretty much on the light side of things with a slightly frothy foamy consistency. Carbonation at a medium level with light tartness.

Had a Saison feel but at the same time there is a huge portion of the flavor that reminds me of the sour mash Berliner I home brewed. I like the combo but wonder what the original aim was. Round Guys solid so far for me.

I am now fully immersed again in The CANQuest (TM) after several months of purging my backlog of bottles! It is good to be back.

From the CAN: "Farmhouse Saison Ale"; "Looking like a queen in a sailor's dream. With that golden floral hopped complexion, soft and sweet, a medium bodied beauty exalting her perfumy sin. Sundown Saison, a quick dry finish reminds you to best take care; get your own and stop hanging around my back stairs[.]"

The Crack! revealed a brimful craft CAN and I even got a little spritz on my fingers when it happened. I got an inverted Glug started and watched as it filled my glass with beer and foam. Lots of foam, settling into two-plus fingers of rocky, bubbly, bone-white head with low retention, falling in on itself like an abused souffle. Color was a hazy, almost cloudy, Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). Nose had the characteristically lightly funky, fruity sweetness that goes with the style. I CAN dig it. Mouthfeel was kind of full and effervescent. The taste was a bit more tart than I was expecting, kind of lemony, slightly funky. I really liked the dry, peppery finish. No one is ever going to CANfuse me with a Saison fan, but this was pretty good.

Poured into a sam adams custom glass: color is gold, head is off white, medium bubbles in the froth that dissipates quickly.

Smell is a pretty even blend of bready malt and dry yeast off flavors; malt flavor is biscuit and pilsner; yeast off flavors are light phenol and subtle spice.

Taste is more bready malt than most saisons, reminds of a hefe/saison blend; wheat and bicuit are dominate at first then dry out with the yeast bite.

Mouthfeel is sweet at first from the bready malt flavors then dries and bites the tongue a bit.

Overall, a interesting take on the saison with some hefe or wheat bear like malt flavors.
