Pours a dark burgundy-brown with two fingers of khaki foam. Head is pillowy and frothy and retains well, leaving behind rings of lacing. Aroma is caramel, molasses, toffee, plums and raisins. There is a hint of Belgian yeast ester, but it fades away quickly. Malts hit notes of toasty, nutty, caramel, and roasty. It smells big, with light booze seeping through the cracks. Flavor profile is smooth, laying out an array of sugary characteristics. Plum and raisin add a kiss of dark fruit, which aids in both the sweetness and smoothness, with toffee, caramel and molasses adding to the sweetness. A touch of oak and booze balances out the sugary notes by way of light bitterness. The heat stays remarkably well nuanced into the beer. Mouth feel is velvety and creamy with a medium-thick consistency. Overall, a great English old ale, with strong malt and dark fruit characteristics and a smooth, velvety texture.
Served into a 15.5oz Spiegelau tulip from a 22oz bottle. Served from cellar @ 50F.

Well I do love a good old ale. Hoping I'll be amazed with this one. 22 oz. bottle into a tulip.
A - Wow, poured a lot lighter than I expected, like liquid caramel or butterscotch. Darker in the glass, an opaque, milky bronze. Head is fairly small and khaki. Can't see much in the glass, but there are plenty of streaming bubbles. Gotta say, this is is an ugly beer.
N - Yeah, I get that deep "oldness" that I love in a good old ale. I don't know how to describe it, other than it just smells old. Like that first time I had Curmudgeon, and I thought to myself, "man, this tastes like it's been sitting in my grandma's attic for a few decades." Yes, this smells like my grandma, but in a good way. Seriously though, I get lots of caramel and vanilla. Not too intense.
T - Very nice. It's honestly a bit weak, not as much of a blast of flavor that I would have expected. It continues to have that oldness, but it's a bit bitter. Lots of caramel and vanilla, as in the aroma. A pleasant sipping beer. I could drink it all day.
M - Very full and frothy. Just a sip fills up my mouth and coats it everywhere. Well crafted.
O - A very nice offering, although nothing overly memorable. I still prefer the Curmudgeon, although I have the BB4D and AftW sitting in my cellar.

Thanks to mrbubbler for sharing this one at his tasting.
2014 vintage.
Pours a murky honey orange-brown with a foamy beige head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, vanilla, bourbon, and wood aromas. Taste is much the same with caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and bourbon flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of toast and wood bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and sticky mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with nice sticky sugar aspects all around.

Thanks to rudzud for sharing.
Light fizzy head, murky auburn brown chestnut color.
Nose is awesome, sweet aged malts, soft creamy brown malts, brown sugar molasses maple like, lots of toffee, caramel candies, some fusel alcohol.
Taste brings big sweet malt, caramel, creamy caramel candies, toffee, candy city, sweet syrupy, etc. Some mild earthy grassy hops in the background, mild phenolic booze. Little fig and candied raisin. Tons of caramel creamy candy. Chewy hops later. Little hot booze later, but not much. Finish is sticky sweet candy, more toffee, caramel candies.
Mouth is fuller bod, quite creamy, little booze but hidden well, decent carb.
Overall pretty nice, good creamy soft malts, little dark fruit, nice candy flavors, bit too sweet but enjoyable.
