Style: American Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
CA$H MONY is an Imperial IPA brewed with a wasteful amount of the very best hops we could secure. An ample malt bill is paired with a huge dose of pungent hop flavor. Citrus dominates the aroma, accentuated by notes of melon, pine, and tropical fruit.

A giant beige bubbly foam builds above a chill haze amber body.

Smell is ruggy cat piss, grapefruit, and buttery toffee. Detrimentally old school.

This one's dank in a bad way, with sticky, catty caramel and some tingly pine resin.

The smooth medium to light body has a bouncing tight carbonation that leads into a finish that is neither dry nor wet, but just right in the middle.

This one promises a lot of citrus and assorted tropical fruit, and I get a decent amount on the nose. I also pick up a strong malt backbone - this one seems 'syrupy' just going by the aromatics alone. On the plus side, the prevalent caramel character meshes with the fruitiness well. Unfortunately, the flavor isn't nearly as hoppy as suggested. Notes of caramel, brown sugar, and maple syrup hit the palate first. Hops do appear on the finish, but it's not a tropical fruit orgy. Instead, it's a generic finish of pine and grapefruit. This beer deserves some credit for having an interesting malt profile, but the hoppiness (the most important part of a DIPA) is a total letdown. On the palate, it's sweet and full, but not overly sloppy. Drinkability could have been worse here. Not particularly impressive - the combination of high 4 Hands bomber pricing and underwhelming hop profile means I won't purchase this again. Caveat emptor.

3.16/5: You think I ain't worth a dollar, but I still don't feel like a millionaire drinking this

Poured from the bottle into a Spiegelau IPA glass. No obvious bottle dating.

Crystal clear appearance, with a very fascinating dark chestnut brown and orange body color. Plentiful carbonation with pin head fine sized bubbles, a little fast rising as well. Head is a creamy off white and just vanilla white color, with thin tiny bubbles and also three to four fingers tall. Very big and budging with island puck and thick clumping in it's makeup. Giant thick clingy chunks of lace as well. Real unique color, excellent head presence, just full of win here.

Aroma matches a nice mix of hop but more malt caramel qualities of sweetness. Hop angle burried, indistinct with maybe a slight bit of wood and mild earth tones. Slightly juiced but also could be syrupy as well. Comes off as firstly as a malty dipa so far.

Sugary palate and mild hop angles show the expected aromas off. Sweet caramel and mild floral and earth qualities. Soft bodied with an almost taffy like texture, but also syrupy feeling as well which provides a strange balance. Mild soft bodied malt sweetness which comes off as a thicker amber ale pleasantry, maple syrup, mild molasses as well.

Hop angle on this is not getting it done in the imperial realm, and actually comes off as more of as moderate sweet imperialized malt amber. Decent beer, but not going to be hanging out with the best of the Imperial IPAs realm unfortunately.

Almost has a sweet wort taste to it. Great head retention and a pretty deep orange color. Certainly a good offering. In my humble opinion, this is a hoppy amber more than a double IPA. I think in an amber category, it is a real winner.
