Part of a specialty stout pack...this brew, from a large bottle, is absolutely black. Medium-slim head, tan. The aroma is of cocoa, roasted grain, but not a lot of fruit. The taste, however, is where the blueberry comes forth. Light tartness. I get milk stout in the aroma, but not the taste. Medium body. Interesting, but the experience doesn't come together as well as other brews from this series.

Bottled 11-26-14

Pours an effervescent ebony with a pinky of tan head. Good head retention & stellar lacing

S: Cocoa, blackberry

T: Follows the nose, dryness as well, a little bit of lactic sourness as well up front. Blackberry jam hides beneath cocoa as this warms, Finishes dry, tart & with cocoa

Medium body with delicate carbonation

For all intents & purposes this just tastes like their regular with some blackberry puree mixed in. Glad I got to to try it, but other than the novelty, this nothing special, but easy enough to drink & solid. Anyone that finds the regular version a little sweet might appreciate this version more

Black in color with minimal penetration to light. There's a fingernail of creamy brown on top. The aroma is of chocolate, lactose, and faint blackberry. The flavor is chock full of blackberry, lactose, and chocolate. The mouth is silky smooth and creamy.

Pours a dark brown color. 1/3 inch head of a tan color. Decent retention and decent lacing. Smells of strong chocolate, cinnamon, hint of hops, sweet malt, slight lactose, and slight blackberry. Fits the style of a Milk / Sweet Stout. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong chocolate, cinnamon, hint of hops, slight roasted malt, sweet malt, slight lactose, and slight blackberry. Overall, average appearance, but good aroma, feel, blend, body, and complexity.

A- Pours pretty much black in color with a tan brown head. The head on this one isn't quite as thick or long lived as the regular CMS, but still has a little bit of lacing.

S- Big chocolate notes are first and foremost on the nose, with dark and sweet chocolate flavors. There is just a touch of blackberry dark fruitiness in the scent that provides a bit of complexity. Really, in the end, this just smells like a chocolatey sweet stout that has a touch of dark fruitiness.

T- The taste has a little more blackberry flavor than the nose. It starts off with a bit of juicy blackberry dark fruit flavor before moving towards the chocolate and dark malt flavors form the nose. Chocolate and lactose sweetness dominate the middle of the drink. Lingering flavor combination of dark fruit and chocolate are left on the tongue.

M- Thick and smooth and incredibly easy to drink, just like its base beer.

Overall, this isn't quite as solid as the regular CMS, but it is a unique take on a variant.

I tried this at my old neighbor's house in the 'Wego. It poured an opaque dark with tan head that isn't leaving any lace. The scent had milk chocolate and faint berry. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with blueberry pancakes coming to mind. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a decent beer.
