Holy jeebzus, I CAN't believe that I got one of these for my local, in-person trader, @tone77 & then forgot about mine until now! The CANQuest (tm) is a magnificent beast at times!
From the CAN: "Tropical IPA"; "Ale Brewed with Honey, Pineapple and Zest"; "Pairings[:] Sunshine[,] Swimming Pools".
I Crack!ed open the vent with a modicum of difficulty, but once this monumental task was acCANplished, I proceeded smartly with a slow, gentle C-Line Glug. This resulted in the formation of two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, eggshell-white head with very good retention, leaving a load of lacing in its wake. Color was an oh-so-slightly-hazy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). Nose smelled redolent with pineapple and the honey gave it an over-the-top sweetness. 8=p Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was not as sweet as the nose had led me to gird myself for, but it lacked the bitterness that is a hallmark of the style. It had a light lemony quality, but it was more like sucking on a pineapple ring off of the Easter ham. Hmm. Finish CANtinued with a pronounced pineapple-honey sweetness & while I am okay with it on pizza, I draw the line in an AIPA. If they had labeled it differently, I might have been more forgiving, but they dug their own grave. This is CANother 21st Amendment Blah, Blah Blah IPA in which everything is an IPA, even when it shouldn't be. YMMV.

The most orange citrus ever encountered and powerfully bitter.

-spiegelau ipa glass.
A: Soft pineapple-orange coloring has a fairly good clarity, with a heavy hand of macro-bubbles storming inside. A rocky, dull white head is steady, foamy, leaving a very generous show of lace on the vessel.
S: Soft straw and a very light dried fruitiness. Light tangerine and orange peel of very low awareness overall. No visible can dating, cannot verify age, but this was lacking in complexity and strength.
T: Dry tangerine peel hopping with some dried lemon peel. Some tart pineapple, dry flowery hopping with some dry grains/hay for backing. Floral citrus with a small funk of orange-lemon twang off the tongue.
M: Medium mouthful, lacking crispness, with a small floral lacing of citrus/lemon hops coating on the tongue. Unexciting, nothing that stands out.
O: Overall was expecting a lot more tropical fruitiness by virtue of the name and juicy can design. The flavor was more dry, floral orange and lemon peel, the pineapple more tart, dry, and reserved. Could not verify age/canning date which may be a base factor.
