Very Good
Divided Sky Rye IPADivided Sky Rye IPA
Notes: This beer brings together tow of our favorite ingredients; hops and rye - serious hops up front provide a pungent, floral, and citrus character. We use centennial, Columbus, and Cascades in this hop lovers dream. The rye provides a slightly spicy flavor and a full mouth-feel. Divided Sky pours straw in color with notes of tangerine, grapefruit, and pine. Drink fresh!

22 oz. bottle. No freshness info, and it says to "drink fresh". Hmmm. Phish is a pretty awful band, but I'll try not to let it sway my opinion of the beer. There are lots of poorly named beers out there.

A: Light color, opaque body. Nice head, with a strong pour. Good retention and. Lots of bubbles floating up to the top.

S: American hops, I detect the centennial in there. Citrus, rye malt. Nice aroma.

T: Bitter hop bite, but not too strong. Sour grapefruit notes. Rye flavor lingers around a while. Pretty good balance.

M: Well-carbonated, light bodied for the style. A little watery.

O: Solid offering from this STL brewery. Not special enough to set it apart from its many peers though.

Thanks to ryanfolty for hauling this back from the far Midwest for an in-person hand-off. 12 oz. can with some Thomas Covenant-style graphics. Best by 5/4/15 stamped on the can bottom, so I’m clear for the best possible experience.

The pour is startlingly clear, close to perfectly clear, light amber. Mild head that I have to pull a sleight of hand trick to get into a 12 ½ ounce glass. Aroma is a bit shy, with light spicy rye & a malty sub-plot. As it warms, citrus becomes more prominent.

Divided Sky Rye IPA – the Russian judge isn’t going to like this one. The rye really bounces off the canines here, a blast of spiciness that hits me right between the gums of the front teeth. Hard bitterness spins the wheel into borderline dank territory, with a spittoon of citrus, weird bit of old bubblegum. Long drawl of caramel winds right into the end. A bit thin, but that feeds into its strength as something I’d like to sip while tending the grill. You know, if any vague warmth ever arrives in this god-forsaken latitude.

A good beer. If it gets warm by 5/3/15, I’m going to shotgun the last of these out on the deck, on my back, staring up at the sun. There is still a sun, right?

Bottle courtesy of abrand, thanks again!

Pours a bright and hazy gold color with a big white head.

Aromas are of hard candy sweetness, light resin, and sweet citrus.

Taste falls off a bit after the pleasant nose. Beer seems heavy handed on the rye. Spicy up front, dry, and bready. Finish is also dry, and really bitter. But the hops don't add a whole lot except bitterness and some faint grapefruit.

Mouthfeel is pretty full and crisp, with nice snappy carbonation.

Overall a pretty simple but above average rye IPA. Really needs some more hop flavors other than the pretty strong bitterness though.

Pours a deep golden straw color with a frothy head that sticks to the glass
very floral smell with lots of aroma
lighter body than id prefer
Taste of Rye, Fruity and Citric hops leaves you with a drier bitterness

Overall good beer id defiantly get it again

A- Light copper color, clear. Thin head, not much retention.

S- The rye and the hops really shine through. The earthy spice of the rye works well with the mild pine and citrus notes of the hops.

T- Starts bitter and finishes dry. Very clean, no discernible esters or phenols. The rye overwhelms any malty sweetness that might otherwise be present. Not a bad thing, this isn't a DIPA. The rye and hops are balanced and that just means this is a bit more bitter and dry than your standard IPA.

M- Medium to light body, no discernible alcohol.

O- This would make a good session beer at 6.5 ABV. Refreshing and drinkable.

a: This golden, straw colored brew has a slight haze to it. It was served to me with a thick creamy head, that never really faded and left solid sheets of lace in its wake.

s: Fresh floral hops with some pithy citrus. Grapefruit in particular. Rye bread and some sugar cookied.

t: Huge, fresh hops pummel the palate with flowery grapefruit rind and some aspirin bitterness. Some earthy rye bread and sweet sugar cookies manage to peek through.

m: Full bodied for sure, but soft and creamy at the same time.

o: God damn but this is some good beer! Never heard of the brewery but I enjoyed the hell out of my two pints tonight. One of the best rye IPAs I've tried.

Poured from the tap a hazy yellow gold with two fingers of white head. Nice lacing left behind.

Aroma of rye, malty grains, tobacco, and herbal notes.

The taste was big on the rye with a touch of grapefruit and caramel malts. Bitter note to the finish. Even though it was just 6.5% abv, it had a boozy bite.

Lighter bodied with a sharp carbonation.

This was definitely a rye IPA with extra emphasis on the rye. Recommended for sure.
