Style: American Wild Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Cuvee Ange was inspired by the French Oak wine barrels we used for this project that once housed all French wine varietals. Fermented with wild yeast and aged in a combination of Cabernet, Merlot, and Grenache barrels with raspberries and blackberries, Cuvee Ange is a fruity, tart, complex ale. Cuvee Ange pours a bright rose with aromas of fruit, funk, and wood.

Light brown in color with lots of small active carbonation bubbles. A half inch head of tightly knit off white foam is on top. Brussels lacing. Aroma is full of Brett and Chardonnay but is a bit subdued. The body is heavily carbonated and crisp. The sourness of the Brett pricks the tongue. I also get the tartness of the blackberries and raspberries and the Brett on the fade. It seems to lose complexity as it warms.

Pour was a brigt copper, light head, light lacing, fairly crisp.

Very dominant raspberry and blackberry, lighter funk and spice. Hints of malt.

Very combination of raspberry and blackberry. Lighter hints of dry red wine and grape. A bit of malt and spice beneath. Layered very well.

Light and easy, dry finish. A bit sticky.

For a first BA release, homerun. This is a farmhouse ale, half barred aged with raspberries and half with blackberries, then combined.

This ale is sour and tangy, just the thing this sour beer lover was in the mood for. Wonderfully carbonated with an earthy finish. Very good over all.
