Very Good
Paradise CityParadise City
Notes: Bright tropical notes and clean finish make Paradise City a perfect all year brew. A light ABV and balanced body help to create a flavorful, aromatic IPA that’s 100% drinkably dank. Grab a can and head on down to where the grass is green and the beers are chilly.

Meh. Pretty average across the board. I drank it following a NoDa pale Ale, and in comparison it falls a little flat across the board.

Clean, crisp, with a hoppy bite, it fulfils the criteria, but this immediately forgettable IPA simply isn't up to the mark as sessionable (4.8%), flavourful, or, sadly, repeatable, given the excellent competition out there.

A: Pours a hazy slightly darker than medium golden honey in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and moderate golden yellow + copper colored highlights. The beer has a finger tall sudsy foamy beige head that reduces to a medium to large sized patch of medium thick film surrounded by a large patch of very thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to heavy amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of tropical/mango, tropical/papaya, and citrus/grapefruit pith hops over the top of light to moderate aromas of cereal grain + biscuit malts with a light amount of sweetness.

T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of cereal grain, biscuit, and lightly toasted malts with a light amount of grainy sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of tropical/mango, tropical/papaya, and citrus/grapefruit pith hops which impart a light to moderate amount of lingering bitterness.

M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Initially slightly crisp with a light amount of dryness in the finish.

O: Easy to drink and enjoyable though probably close to the higher ABV end of the Session IPAs. Nice hop flavors and aromas with enough malt backbone to not just be hop juice.

From a can at the Burning Can Festival (NC)

Clear amber body topped with a good off-white head.
Fruity, dank and floral hoppy aroma.
Moderately strong and bold for a session IPA. Moderate bitterness.

I'm at my Bestie's house in NC. It poured a hazy orangish with white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had faint hop. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a decent beer.

This is an excellent go-to session IPA here in NC. As it stands now very underrated by other reviewers. According to Birdsong, hops are Columbus, Cascade, Chinook, Amarillo, and Idaho 7. They are well-balanced, fruity, earthy, and dank, with unique notes of cherry, nutmeg, and collards, which are just dominant enough over the malt bill, which includes 2 row, carapis, wheat, Caramel, and Oats. Taste has a nice rounded complexity. A superb, highly flavorful session IPA up there with Trophy Wife and White Dot as the best session IPAs in North Carolina.

Pours slightly hazy, orangish gold. Foamy, medium, white head fades shortly to a ring with lacing.

Smells tropical mango, citrus, grapefruit, orange and malt.

Tastes tropical mango and citrus peel, grapefruit and some bready malt. Finish is dry with a bitter citrus peel linger and light grain. Lighter medium body and fizzy lower medium carbonation.
