16 oz can
Not quite opaque dark brown like cherry furniture. A finger's beige head which shrinks to a persistent ring and islands. Curtain lacing.
Dark malt, toffee, cocoa aromas, bread note.
Nutty, with some hop bitterness up front. Dark malts, coffee.
Hoppy element integrated well with the nutty malts. Carbonation is long lasting. Semi-sweet aftertaste.
Enjoyable. Hard to resist opening another one.

Pretty light, not even quite the mohogany they suggest. Very clear, too. Nice creamy khaki head. Bright hops dominate the nose; not much in the way of roastiness. Those hops are also quite prominent in the flavor, though you do have that rounded off a lot by the thick creaminess of the mouthfeel. Overall, an ok beer, but one that does not represent what I'm looking for in a brown.

Pours brown. Thick, short, tan head that lasts a little while fading to lasting cap.

Smells caramel malt, roasted malt and earthy hops.

Tastes roasted malt, bready, light coffee. Followed by an earthy bitterness. Finish is dry with a roasty and earthy linger. Medium body and creamy medium carbonation.

So the Birdsong rep was at Growlers and offered to buy me one, so I obliged. I tend to get locked into IPAs so this was a nice change up. Some hops but some coffee/caramel taste as well. I had another one, on my own dime.

Appearance is cloudy brown.

Aromas of smoked and roasted malts.

Flavors of roasted malts, bit of coffee and a slight bit of sweet citrus

It has a fairly smooth finish.

Overall is is a good brew that is fairly simple, but the combinations work well together and brings out the quality of the brewing process.
