Nice chilli pepper flavor against the backdrop of the sweet malt, with only the slight hint of heat. Very pleasant and extremely drinkable. Really enjoyed this one.

Pours into a standard pint a dull lighter amber shade with a sticky half finger white head atop that leaves a broken ring of lace behind.I pick up some fresh jalepeno and some biscuit malts, not much hop presence. The japs don't bring alot of heat flavor-wise but they brink a mild earthiness and some light heat,a firm biscuit malt base doesn't give off much sweetness, again only a smattering of leafy and earthy hops found. Not a bad beer it's actually very easy going down.

Tall can..."PKGD 5.30.17"

Lighter amber, nice looking fine scattered lacing

Mild pepper on the sniff

Pleasing ale, with again a subtle pepper quality...no heat....would love to enjoy this again with some spicy mexican food...salsa verde all day...worthy and well crafted chili beer

Although it uses jalapenos, this is a really solid american pale ale.

On tap at Growlers Pour House in Charlotte.
Pours clear red-amber with a full, creamy and durable bone-colored head that leaves fine lacing patterns.
Smells rather ordinary, with no sign of the jalapenos. You will definitely taste the hot peppers in this beer, although Birdsong used enough restraint that I would not call this challenging to drink. There is some mild heat in the mouth which, I think, is why the ABV seems higher than 5.5%. Given the chilies, this pale ale would probably benefit from more hops so that they aren't so completely masked.

O: A chili beer with little else going one, but that’s not always a bad thing. Worked well with a sandwich and fries.

I can see the polarizing nature of this beer but I for one, really enjoyed it.

I like heat, in pretty much everything I ingest. Lately, I've noticed loads of spice in the more malty side of ales, esp the Mexican hot chocolate ales that seem to be everywhere now (I'm not complaining). The jalapeño spice brightens the hops here but keeps things surprisingly drinkable.

16 oz can poured into a pint glass canned on 9/7.

A: Very little head mostly a light white film. Body is a burnished gold leaning toward Amber with pretty good clarity.

S: Lots of jalapeño up front with that earthiness and just a light hint of fruit in the end.

T: Fairly bitter and acidic on the tongue almost metallic like in its bitterness. Nice full jalapeño flavor with barely any heat at all if any. Slight bit of happiness on the finish.

M: Decent carbonation medium bodied.

O: This is a nice novelty beer it drinks just like juicing a jalapeño except without the heat. If you like the flavor of jalapeños you will love this beer.
