MexiCali Stout is our favorite seasonal that we release every year at Halloween. A strong coffee and cinnamon aroma complements a smooth chocolate taste with just a hint of chili spice. We use fresh spices, coffee from Charlotte-based Central Coffee Co. and locally sourced Serrano chilies to create this unique blend.

On tap at Duckworths on Park Rd in Charlotte, NC
Strong scents of coffee and cinnamon. Nice body with decent lacing. Not much head. You taste some sweetness with some chile spice at the back end. Different combination. Good amount of carbonation. Silky on the tongue.
Overall, this isn't bad. Enjoyed it, but I think one pint a night is enough. Not something that I would order on a regular basis

Picked up a 16 oz single from the Blue Door Bottleshop in Hendersonville 1-27-22 for $3.25. Canned 12-30-21; consumed 4-28-22.
Beer poured black with an awesome tan head that is leaving some lacing behind.
Nose is of chili spices and a hint of cocoa nibs. Not getting any coffee.
Taste is a light malt base that is overwhelmed by chili spice and habanero. Finishes with a touch of cocoa.
Mouthfeel is light bodied and not smooth.
Overall not a bad beer but is too hot, even for my southwestern/Sonoran zest for spicy food; just not enjoyable.

Dark brown with three fingers of chocolate milk-colored head. Decent retention gives way to thick, clumpy lacing.
Light chocolate, roasted malts and carbon dioxide in the nose. Maybe a hint of pepper behind, but it’s very faint.
Thin tasting with highly watered-down roasted malts, chocolate and coffee, followed by a sharp bite of pepper heat in the finish.
On the light side of medium bodied and slightly creamy feeling.
There’s great bite from the pepper in this, but not much flavor to complement it. Wouldn’t peg it as a coffee stout if tasting it blind. As a “chile beer,” it hits the mark though.

Doesn't seem as well executed as other renditions of the style I've had. The structure is a bit weak, the mouthfeel isn't as creamy, and the pepper overwhelms the other flavor notes I'd like to see. They’re a bit out of their league on this one.

L: Poured from a tallboy can to a pint glass. Had a dark, mahogany brown color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, tan-colored head that quickly dissipated. Above average lacing.
S: A pretty good, but not great, aroma of chocolate, chili peppers, malt, and coffee.
T: Tasted of a fair amount of malt (present throughout, though a subtle presence), some coffee notes (not as much as expected, but still there), a good shot of chili peppers (especially after the beer warms up), and some mild milk chocolate notes. Not a bad flavor, but it needed a boost with some of its ingredients. Still, not bad.
F: An average amount of carbonation with a warm, spicy finish. Medium-bodied.
O: This is an uneven beer, but it has some good qualities. Worth a try.
