BEER INFO

Style: Witbier

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.50%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
There is no other beer like Timmermans Tradition Lambicus Blanche anywhere in the world. It is made by bringing together lambic with the process used for brewing beers based on malted wheat. By the addition of spices such as coriander and dried orange zest, a beer is created with a light, fruity flavour, deliberately cloudy and subtly spicy. Should ideally be drunk from an authentic stoneware pot.

A 375ml corked and caged bottle with a cork date of 2015 and best before date of 10th May 2017. Poured into a d’Achouffe tulip glass.

Appearance: It poured a cloudy golden yellow colour with a two finger bubbly white head that dissipated quickly but left great lacing.

Aroma: Lightly funky, candy sweetness, orange, orange peel, lemon and hints of mango and pineapple.

Taste: Orange peel and honey sweetness which is surrounded by a touch of lemon, light sourness and light funkiness.

Mouthfeel: Crisp, light bodied with moderate to high carbonation.

Overall: It’s overly sweet in my opinion, but has a nice aroma. The taste is actually fine but I would have preferred it if the sweetness was toned down or even soured.

Overall this was an interesting brew, a touch a sour but a fairly strong taste of coriander and orange. The thing I liked most about this brew was how refreshing it was. It is an interesting mix of lambic and witbier, and if you are looking for something 100% lambic this is not what you want, but it is not without its merits.

Slightly hazy yellow color with a bit of white foam. Aroma has coriander, lemon zest, orange and a bit of honey sweetness. Taste starts sweet and sour, like lemon candy. You also get the witbier spices. Body is light and fizzy. Overall it's more like a sour witbier, not really a lambic. I don't get any of the specific lambic funk or farmhouse notes.

Champagne blonde with lots of froth. 4
Orange, flowers, funk, and hay on the nose - booming. 4.25
Crackers, loads of citrus, candy sugar, almonds, and some herbs. 4.25
Funky end and chalky end.
Smooth, fizzy, light. 4

Delicate and easy. The lambik roots are there, but it has the drinkable wit notes that make Blue Moon and Hoegaarden such hits. The definitive gateway beer - why is nobody talking about this? A revelation. 4.25

Pours a straw/golden apple color with minimal head. Nose is very citrusy...almost no lambic funk or malt coming through...maybe a few light yeast notes. Has residual sweetness, or maybe was back sweetened. Flavor is very much lemonade with a bit of apple skins...like a shandy. Some sour beyond the citrus, but not much. Refreshing without much depth. Odd, but not necessarily bad. Doesn't scratch the itch for a lambic, for sure, or a beer for that matter, but would be good if you wanted a shandy. Grew on me a bit towards the end. Better nose as it warms. No yeast in the bottle, so doubtful it would improve with age.

Wonderful sweet fruity malts, full of mango, pineapple, orange and sherbet. Nice yeasty flavours too, which really bring out the sweetness. There's just enough spicy citric hops to balance everything out. A perfect beer.
