33cl bottle. 11/06/15. Clear, light mahogany colour; whispy light pink head reduced to a frothy ring and left some nice lace. Cherry aroma dominates with some acidity. Low to medium cherry sweetness and moderate sourness. Light to medium body, fizzy, medium tartness and a dry finish. Not quite to my sweet tooth's taste but a fine example of a fruit lambic. I would probably proffer this one as a good example of the style.

Produced on 5/16/13. 4% ABV per the label.

Pours a clear dark crimson-red with a foamy reddish-khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of sweet and sour cherry, cherry juice, and cherry candy aromas. Taste is much the same with sweet and sour cherry, cherry juice, and metallic flavors on the finish. There is a very mild amount of earth bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer with decent sweet and sour cherry characteristics, even after over 2 years since this was bottled.

Serving type: bottle.

Drain pour. There was no complexity to this beer. Like Robitussin with light carbonation. No thank you.

This beer has a big cherry nose with floral and tart notes. It pours brilliant cherry red with a slight brown tint under a 1” very finely bubbled white foam cap. The palate is just short of coming across as a tart cherry soda but there is just enough tartness to keep it interesting and back it off from being cloying. It is very drinkable, very effervescent, light and refreshing.

Pours a real pretty partially clear hazy burgundy with a nice very light pink head and moderate lacing. Aroma is strong like cherry cough drops, not as natural aroma as I was expecting. Taste is very refreshing with a little better cherry flavor, but still a very light hint of medicine in the far background. Carbonation is spectacular and there is ever so light of a hint of vinegar in the back that adds to the great feel of this beer. Only a small touch of bitterness or sour with this one, very sweet, yet very refreshing. Makes me want more !!

Bottle: a standard 330mL brown bottle with an old-school Belgian label.

Appearance: pours out a vibrant ruby red / amber-brown with a light could. A half-finger off-white head with a pink tinge. The head leaves no lace as it quickly drops to a decent cap.

Aroma: smells of an artificial cherry - kind of like kids' medicine. Not nice at all.

Taste: better than the aroma for sure, as the nasty cherry has been accompanied by some tart berries and some bitterness in the back.

Aftertaste: and the cherry is back. Pretty nasty.

Mouth feel: moderate in feel with a spritzy carbonation that carries the flavours through fantastically. Very refreshing body. Shame about the flavours.

Overall: as with Brouwerij Huyghe's Floris Kriek, I found this to be completely dominated by a nasty and sickly medicinal cherry flavour. A real shame, as I loved their peach lambicus.

A: Hazy and ruby red coloured with a finger’s worth of head that forms a ring.

S: Maraschino cherries, balsamic, yeast, and cloves. Huge cherry aroma that comes across naturally with a nice balsamic vinegar kick.

T: Cherries, field berries, apples, and a subtle balsamic quality. This is very easy drinking and smooth with not an overly sweet cherry flavour at all. This does seem to be lacking a flavour or two.

M: Thinner bodied with a lower carbonation, but almost too thin and flat for the style. Crisp and dry.

D: This is good and a very natural tasting example of the style but lacks in mouthfeel and doesn't seem to be 100% complete in the taste.
