Whoa....sour on nitro? This was awesome! More of an intertwining of the dark flavors of a Oud Bruin, with lambic and flanders red notes.

Appearance is a dark magenta/ruby with this creamy head that sits motionless on the top of the glass...really cool to see that on a sour.

Smells of funk, and must with like a dark fruitiness.

Taste is great, not to over powering. Amazing mix of flavors, but I expected more Cherry and less plum/raisin. Still the same very enjoyable.

The texture of this was incredible. Maybe it's because it's not the norm, but without the CO2, it seems as if you taste everything

Overall, really interesting, can't drink a lot of them, and at 8% a great way to start or finish the night. Definetly a new way to appreciate sours. Great job Draai Laag.

No bottling date. Served cold in a teku

Appearance: super hazy ruddy brown with a light tan or khaki head of tight foam. The bottle art is wonderful and I love 500ml sour beers. There seemed to be leas beer in the bottle than i would have thought. Still had a lot of carbonation so I don't think ullage is to blame. Potty they don't fill them more full.

Bose: Brett funk, lacto sourness, tart cherries, very geuze like, wildly complex. Lemons, spice and cinnamon on the back end.

Taste: follows the nose well but adds a massive amount of Brett complexity. The cherry is very forward, lemons, malty sweetness. Wonderful

Overall: this beer is seriously underrated; just like the brewery who made it. I think it is up there with the best American Sours. Well done Draai Laag!

This beers pours a muddy brownish orange color into my tulip glass. Light foamy head that disappears quickly.
Lots of stuff in the nose with the tartness coming through strong. Has that flanders red type of nose. Sour but lots of funk going on here.
The taste is sour but the black cherry comes through nicely. Lots of earthy overtones and some good flavor from the barrel aging. This is supposed to 8% ABV but that is totally hidden in the blend of flavors.
There is a good amount of carbonation in this beer and last through the glass.
In all this is a good solid beer and I think perhaps a little more age will improve the flavors even more.

Bright red with no real head to speak of.

This one is very sour. It starts sweet with a little graham, while a bitter acetic oak smell is present, it does not warn you for what's to come. Cherry and green apple are overcome by overwhelmingly acidic sourness. While fun, and especially if you found a friend unfamiliar with the style, I think there's something to be said for balance.

On nitro-tap at House of 1000 Beers in New Kensington, PA.

Poured into a stemmed tulip: Deep amber-brown, 2 fingers of solid eggshell head, honey gold highlights, murky overall.

Smells of balsamic vinaigrette, strawberry jam, a little copper, green apple. As it warms, a kind of fig note arises & really dominates.

Taste of cooked brown sugar, balsamic vinaigrette, stewed berries. The berry character could be characterized as just a little overripe. An acetone character is just starting to emerge, somewhat metallic & coppery in the finish & ending on the dry side with a deadening kind of candy character, like eating a whole bunch of Jolly Ranchers. Tart, dark fruit skins.

Feels as smooth as can be expected with nitro, medium-full-bodied. Kind of fatiguing on the palate, the whole "too-much-candy" thing again, which is interesting because it's not overly sweet.

Can't say I've ever really had a beer like this. I'll show my hand & tell you that the brewery categorizes this as a "neo-lambic", but it smacks much more of Flanders Red than lambic to me. Can't say I loved it, but there was more good than bad going on here, in my opinion. I found it an interesting take on a class of beer that's pretty underrepresented, especially in these parts. I'd love to see what they do with future attempts, as this beer has a lot of potential.

Pours a light brownish amber, white head and a haze about it. The aroma is fruity, sour, funky and actually smells acidic. Taste follows suit with strong lactic sourness, cherry and berry elements, and just a hint of bitter hops. Well balanced although sour, has a wild element for sure. This falls between a Flemish red and kriek lambic to me, broadly a wild ale as it fits no other description by the book. Another charming, fun and tasty neo Belgian brewed on the outskirts of Pittsburgh in Millvale. A really nice ale that's for sure.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly hazy reddish orange/light copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of tart/sour black cherry, strawberry, raspberry, lemon, green apple, plum, red grape, hay, straw, pepper, brown sugar, toasted oak, and bread; with lighter notes of musty/leathery funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/funky/spicy/acidic yeast, cherry juice, oak barrel, and moderate bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big tart/sour black cherry, strawberry, raspberry, lemon, green apple, plum, red grape, hay, straw, pepper, brown sugar, toasted oak, and bread; with lighter notes of musty/leathery funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Moderate fruity/lactic tartness and yeast/tannic oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of black cherry, strawberry, raspberry, lemon, green apple, plum, red grape, hay, straw, pepper, brown sugar, toasted oak, bread, light funk/vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/spicy/acidic yeast, cherry juice, oak barrel, and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/tart/spiciness balance, and zero puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. High carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, crisp, dry, and moderately acidic/tannic/grainy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 8%. Overall this is a great Kriek/Flemish red styled wild ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/spicy/acidic yeast, cherry juice, oak barrel, and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink with the balanced acidity and high carbonation. Great balance of Brett/Lacto complexity, cherry juice, and oak flavors; with a nice malt backing. Not too funky, but I am sure that would change with some aging. A very enjoyable offering.
