when poured from a can there is a 1/2 inch foamy head. A cloudy amber color with a hoppy aroma. It has a spice flavor with a fruity sweetness that has a blend of alcohol taste that burst over the palette.
At 7.8 ABV it is a good start to a fall evening.

From a can and beer of the month club. Look has a puffy white foam head of about 1/2" and a hazy orange body. Scent has that classic funky spice of saisons: clove, coriander, orange, and a bit of malty sweetness. Taste has bit of the alcohol coming across (unsurprising at 7% ABV), but otherwise has the spicy notes reign supreme with a bit of malty backing to round it out. Feel is like many saisons; refreshing and a lingering degree of slightly spicy/sour. A good offering, although one definitely geared towards saison fans.

Poured from a can into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a haze orange color with a one finger foam head of white foam. The head has a great level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave tons of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell -The aroma of the brew is very heavy of a cracker malt mixed with lots of spice, with the spice being mostly of a cardamom and clove. Along with these aromas comes a decent showing of orange and light fruits like peach and apricot. Along with these smells comes some light hay and a little bit of a funky smell.

Taste- The taste begins with a crisp cracker taste mixed with a some of the sweeter fruit tastes that were detected in the nose. Along with these tastes comes lots of spice, with coriander, clove, and cardamom all present. Along with these flavors comes a bit of funk and some light hay. These flavors get stronger as the taste advances, with the sweetness getting slightly bigger. At the same time there is some more spiciness with a little bit of alcohol that comes to the tongue, leaving one with a nice spiced, crisp, and moderately fruity taste to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is slightly thinner with a carbonation level that is higher. For the sweeter and spicier flavors mixed with the bit of funk the feel is great and makes of a nice easy sipper.

Overall – A rather tasty, slightly more sweet, and slightly more boozy saison. A rather good brew overall

[Original rating 2016-05-17] Draft at Austin Ale House, Austin, TX. Hazy orange gold with little head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, funky. Taste is a bit sweet for a saison but it’s 8.5%. Spicy, a little black pepper and clove. Decent saison.

Appearance: Hazy orange glass fails to hold a head or lace the glass.

Aroma: Over ripe peach esters, dash of spices, clove, maybe a bit of ginger.

Taste: Fruity notes are forward and strong, peach, pear, a mild hay note, slightly earthy tonic water finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium body, medium low carbonation, warming drying finish.

Overall: A nice Saison sipper. Very traditional taste profile, nothing seriously wrong, I'm just not a big fan of the style. Worth a try.

a spiced strong saison and a good one, although they dont mention which spices they are, its a nice beer and really well refined, bottle conditioned it seems like. blonde in color, mostly clear, but airy headed and wispy on the top, fluffy and sexy. it smells like belgian saison yeast before spices, but if i had to guess i would say coriander, white pepper, and orange peel, maybe some grains of paradise or something, but this is relatively direct in its wheat malt base and vinous estery yeast strain, not overly complex but really appealing and sort of an all season thing. i like the wheaty base being a little bigger, and i dig the yeast being somewhat restrained. if its not going to be an old worldy rustic ferment or a brett based saison, i prefer it in the back, and this one accepts that role well. good body, some peppery middle and a little flash of sweet, green pepper, sherry, and allspice in the finish, just a little alcohol to cut it and excellent carbonation. a fun brew, worth the price and would fit in well in a tasting with the likes of dupont and hennepin and the like, not out of place at all...

750 ml, Belgian glass

A – Amber to nearly russet, a slight haze but for the most part clear. Massive, off-white/bone head of about three inches, with looooong retention.

S – A lot of fruit, pear, kiwi, tangerine. Peppery-spicy tinge throughout the nose. Perhaps some clove, papaya, plantains. Sweet, light brown sugar malt aroma holds it all together.

T – Sweet bananas, pink peppercorn, a touch of clove. Pink bubble gum, pear, and kiwi in the mix. Light toasty malt. A Belgian yeast showcase.

M – Massive carbonation, with scrubbing bubbles throughout the sip so the flavors ebb and flow. Mostly dry, though some sweetness shows, especially at the beginning. Mild bitterness on the finish that lingers. No flaws here.

O – A near perfect interpretation of a traditional Belgian saison, with a few hints of American hops and slight sweetness.
