Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Track 7 Brewing Co. was admittedly an odd West Coast brewery for one very conspicuous omission in its beer line-up when its doors first opened – there was no IPA to be found. After several months of hearing requests (and even pleas) to add an IPA to our line-up, we released the Panic IPA in August 2012.

Panic IPA is heavily hopped with modern American hop royalty, featuring: Amarillo, Centennial, Crystal and Simcoe flavor and aroma hop additions. The result is an IPA that includes subtle citrus characteristics and not-so-subtle stone fruit notes as well. After several special releases, we have fully committed to Panic IPA as one of our regular releases. If you haven’t had a chance to enjoy a pint or two of this amazing beer, head down to Track 7 and give it a try. Panic optional.

12 oz can. Pours slightly hazy yellow with a medium fluffy white head that retains well and leaves little lacing.

The aroma is sweet biscuit malt with floral grassy hops and a little fruit.

The flavor is sweet cracker malts with floral fruity, slightly soapy, bitter hops. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a decent IPA. A bit too malty and floral for me.

Can poured into a pokal glass

It pours a deep golden color with a one finger head that lingers a bit. The head is white with big soapy bubbles. Very carbonated. First smell is a big blast of citrus. Mango, orange, and lemon in the nose. The taste is quite a bit different. I found it to be very pine forward turning to juicy citrus mid palate before the bready finish. Medium bodied, active carbonation, lingering bitterness, and a dry finish. Quality beer that I wouldn't mind buying in PA.

Served on-tap at Capitol Beer and Tap Room in Sacramento, CA

Appearance - Clear, golden orange in color served up with a white, half finger of head. Fair retention. Streaky lacing with fair stick.

Smell - Sweet, fruity aroma, while the hops set in strong with pine and grapefruit character.

Taste - Follows the nose; sweet and fruity, with faint traces of candied apricot. Hops are prominent, hitting on grapefruit and pine qualities. Nice, clean finish.

Mouthfeel - Medium in body with moderate carbonation. Smooth, drinkable quality.

Overall - This is your classic West Coast IPA, and a nice example of it. Reminiscent of FW Union Jack or SN Torpedo, though I find this to be more approachable. It doesn't break new ground, but it's certainly worth a try, and a good effort made for a relatively young brewery.

22oz bottle, nonic, bottled 7/12/18.

Straw yellow, very clear, topped by an off white head that produces great lace.

Pine, biscuit dough, Meyer lemon.

Yellow citrus flavors, yellow grapefruit and lemon, very doughy malts, and a bitter finish with some pine.

It’s a middle of the road, tending towards gritty feel.

This is a solid California IPA. Nice job Sacramento.

Poured a nice one and half fingers of head, too bad it was short lived. The body is a hazy, dark straw color.
The aroma has a great spiciness with lemon and pine.
The taste is a bold, strong pine and lemon bitter from beginning to end. It's held up by a solid malt backbone.
The texture is crisp but smooth with moderate carbonation.
Enjoyable with a great boldness.

Draft pour to shaker, cloudy golden, a finger of well retained white head, good lacing. Piney nose with some citrus. Solid balance taste of resin, light malt sweetness, bitter finish. Above medium body and carbonation.
