Poured a dark brown ale with good head and lace. Mild candi sugar and malty aroma. Thick, heavy body, sticky, abundance of candi sugar and thick malts with hints of dark fruits like prune and raisins. Not bad but overly sweet and no complexity.

Forgettable ale. Nothing really stands out, except an over sweetness in the taste. Smell is candi sugar dark ale.
Malting results in sticky feel, that gives way to sugared plums and figs. Nothing special.

No head whatsoever, although my glass was perfectly clean. Looks a lot like a light brown coke. Taste is better than expected, though nothing rivetting. Mostly alcohol and little body.

I grabbed a couple of bottles (€1.75 ea) of this at Dranken Geers in Belgium on 02OCT14 during a visit there with Brabander. Best-by date looks to be Feb, 2018. Brought them safely home, and am now quaffing one during the start of game 7 of the World Series...

Poured into a small tulip... With the yeasties added in, it is a dense, opaque, murky brown offering, with a creamy, beige layer of foam up top. The head sits at about 1/4", and is fine and tight, ebbing slowly to a thin covering, with decent lacing. Smell is of some Belgian candi sugar and dark fruit. A bit mild, but still enticing. The body is nicely medium-plus, and it feels exceedingly smooth on the tongue.

The flavor is all about fruitiness.... It is lightly sweet, and there's some raisin, dates and black currants showing up here. The sweetness present reminds me a bit of caramelized brown sugar poured over rum-soaked brown bread. The initial flavors are quite nice, but they fade quickly, and the finish is a bit lacking. Still, this is a nice offering, and it hits the spot. Prosit!!
