Purchased in a 4 pack at the Municipal Liquor Store in Worthington, MN. Poured into a plastic Holiday Inn Express glass (gotta take what you can get). Pours a nice brown color with some amber/deep red tones. Very little head most likely due to my inadequate glassware. Nice brown ale smell, very malty & nutty. Taste was exceptional, very malty upfront with a warm coffee, nut finish & aftertaste. Very creamy & goes down smooth, everything in this beer balanced out well. I picked up a few local beers while in town for a family Christmas party, and this one stood out from the others. One of the better brown ales I have had. Just wish I would have bought more to bring home with me, but I now look forward to trying more from this brewer in the summer.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tall pint glass. Label says enjoy by 11/29/14.

Appearance: Pours a dark brownish amber with a lot of rising bubbles. About one finger of beige head that settles into a thin creamy layer.

Smell: A toasty, nutty, and earthy malt forward aroma with hints of caramel, chocolate, and biscuit. Upfront scent of toasted barley malt with hints of toasted bread, biscuit, caramel, toffee, chocolate, nuts, smoke, and yeast. Slight hints of brown sugar. Background hints of earthy hops with some grass. A pretty nice toasty aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a nicely toasty, earthy, and nutty malty taste with notes of biscuit, caramel, and chocolate. Toasted malt with upfront bready notes of biscuit, toasted bread, caramel, chocolate, toffee, grains, nuts, yeast, and subtle smoke. Light sweet notes of brown sugar. Earthy background notes of hops with some subtle grass. A solid Brown taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Creamy, drying, and pretty smooth.

Overall: A pretty nice take on a Brown Ale. Good toasty malt notes with a nice earthy dryness.

Medium brown with a reddish tint color. Just one finger forms but is slow to settle. The eventually forms a thick cap. Massive amount of lacing is left down the glass.

Wonderful aroma of toasted malt, nuts, earth, with a slight grainery , musty quality.

One of the better brown ales I ever tasted. Toasted malt leads the way with hints of nuts and earth with a profound creaminess. It finishes with an ever so slight tartness. On the drier side. Quite a bit of complexity in a brown ale.

Feels a tad thin and over carbonated. But it does a suitable job of delivering the flavors. Nice smooth finish.

I thought Mankato Original was an outstanding beer, and now this is another great beer from them. People need to be paying more attention to this Minnesota brewery.

Tons of carbonation upon popping, also forming tons of head. Perhaps this one was put off a bit too long in my basement. Enjoy by 12/9/16. It's got a dark brown color and the head is beige colored.

Delicious aromas of chocolate, hazelnut, maple, and caramel with some slightly roasted malts.

Flavors are surprisingly alcohol forward...very hot and spicy feeling. It could be due to slight overaging. Behind that, some caramel and toffee notes with hints of hazelnut and chocolate. No sour nasty brown ale flavors here. Very nice to have that.

The feel is very carbonated, prickly, spicy, and semi-dry.

Overall, this beer is a knockout. I can sense it even though I'm getting some extra activity via carbonation and alcohol. The flavors are there and it's right on key. Will return.

I like the color of the label and the artwork in general.
This is a nice brown ale and well done. Nice lighter softer roast in both the aroma and taste without harshness- apparent, but not too much. Hints of sweetness in the aroma take on more caramel flavor in the drink.
Good brown head with decent lacing caps a clear red/brown liquid. Attractive and appealing. Complex flavors and ample drying on the finish. Hints of tartness and sourness just add nicely. Fullness from a soft carbonation. May be a tad thin. But I don't want to forget the nuttiness, which is there, it's just more background than foreground. As I stated this is pretty darn complex.
This is a very solid English brown ale. Robust enough, but not to a porter. A good seasonal beer.
I'd prefer a 6 pack a buck or two more expensive than their typical products, instead of the 4-pack a buck or two less, but I quibble. They will do fine if they continue with this quality of products.
