Appearance: Pours a clear, rich and bright orange & amber color. A moderate white head. SRM of 13. (3.75)
Aroma: Strong malty aromas. First, faint aromas of citrus upfront, followed by strong aromas of caramel malts. Dark malt profile of caramel, bread, toffee, brown sugar, and streudel.
Flavor: The flavors are malty too. First, mild flavors of mild citrus upfront. This is folloed by a rich and smooth malt profile of caramel, cream, vanilla, brown sugar, and strudel. Drinks malty, rather dark, and rich.
Feel: Medium-bodied. Moderate carbonation. Finishes smooth, malty, and slightly sweet. Alcohol is detectable in the body.
Compared to Surly's Furious IPA 8/17/21: Pours a lighter color with a milder head. Less hoppy aromas. More malty. More malty caramel, brown sugar, and strudel. Less hoppy citrus and tropical notes.
Overall: Not sure if this even qualifies as an IPA. It's a good beer. Very malty with caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, and strudel malts. More malty than hoppy. Smooth and sweeter. I guess that's a Haymaker. Don't go for this if you want an IPA, but for a hoppy dark ale, it drinks well. (Final Rating: 3.68)

Poured out a clear, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of foam. It smelled of toasted caramel, citrus and pine. Sweet caramel flavor with orange and piney bitterness.

Pours a hazy, copper color. 1/2 inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and decent lacing. Smells of strong piney hops, slight spicy hops, sweet malt, slight tea, hint of caramel malt, resin, and slight citrus hops. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with a high carbonation level. Tastes of strong citrus hops, slight spicy hops, piney hops, hint of caramel malt, slight sweet malt, slight tea, hint of resin, and a hint of alcohol. Overall, good appearance, aroma, and blend, with a great blend. The more I drink, the better the body and blend become; quite a treat.

First time trying a Mankato brew.
Appearance.
Body : Golden-copper body with 90% transparency.
Head : Nice display, 3 fingers and generous lace on the sides.
Aroma.
Initial : Citrus, grapefruit, caramelized malts, a bit of antiseptic.
With Agitation : More antiseptic.
Taste.
At the front : tons of mineral water. A touch of grapefruit rind.
At the back : Tastes like wet paper and copper. Maybe a little burnt onion.
Feel.
Abysmal. Very parched and sticky in a bad way. Renders it almost undrinkable.
Overall, this beer was a fail. Getting up to drain it now.

Purchased as a pick six, from Total Wine in the Twin Cities, the only IPA, the others were all Scotch Ales. Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Sam Adams taster...light copper color, filtered clear, nice creamy head that doesn't last too long, same with lacing. Smell is pure IPA, very nice. Mouthfeel is medium light, hits the back of the throat with authority... This is one I'll have to find more of.
