Get it while you can!
Fine and plentiful bubbles of persistent foam manifest a deep layer on my pint glass!
A deep peachy and slightly cloudy hue resides making it difficult to see the gas bubbles rising inside.
It smells a bit like over ripe watermelon. Malty beer, no mistake. Not crackers or bread. It's beer no doubt. Almost sadly like a party was here. But no, this is a party!
Dank dank dank!
This is the deep foggy redwood forest of Northern California somehow miraculously reproduced in a beer!
And that's what it is.
And yet there is baseball at play as well
The tongue at bat gets the hopping pitch and swings. It's a strike. But the bearded dude on first steals 2nd.
2nd pitch is a base hit, it tastes good, a grounder worm kills past shortstop, the 8.5 ABV sneaks by and ...runner on 1st and 3rd.
Next up is a big gulp. Holy dankness!!! You can taste the mold and moss growing on the Northside of the trees! Spanish moss drapes the cap bill and the pitch is hit in slow motion...the ball arcs over the stands out of sight and into the splash zone...a salty brine and aired barnacle flavour tangs the pallete...and it's a home run!
Three solid points plus good looks are the main thing...but there's Norcal in this brew. You might need to live here to understand.
A beer for the State of the Art from San Mateo up to and including the State of Jefferson.
If you are afraid of dankness seek other brew.
Super Dank!
Wear a fleece and a windbreaker and let this beer crash over you!

Chill hazed amber with a tall white colored head.
Smells fruity like a steam beer with a woody and spicy hop scent. Strong scent of cedar wood. Fruit and pepper scents ride the detectable ethanol fumes. Fainter scents of caramel.
Starts out savory and woody without much sweetness. Lemony citrus taste. Mild bitterness and a woody after taste.
The mouthfeel is full for the style.
Overall a mild tasty but strong IPA. Something like an Imperial Steam Beer.

Orange to write hue on the light amber color. Hazy. Good ring lace after each sip.
Initial impression is I get some orange aroma with a bit of concentrated malt extract, though not as sweet.
The taste is sweeter than the smell indicates -- very sugary for the style. The hop is subdued but present from swallow through the moderately long aftertaste. Rich body as one might expect. While this is a departure from the west coast IPAs, I still find it enjoyable.

Pours an effervescent amber with 3 fingers of rocky cream colored head. Stays effervescent, crazy lacing & head retention
S: Faint breadyness & a little leafy hops
T: Leafy hops, tangerine notes, & faint breadyness up front. Herbal hops with a touch of cattyness & tangerine & a touch of grapefruit rind once warm. Finishes with tangerine, herbal hops, dryness & grapefruit
MF: Creamy, medium body, pretty nice balance
Drinks easy, got better as it warmed

No date found. No telling how long it's been in the bottle.
A: Awhile. Yeast slurry of opaque bronze orange. Finger of white head.
S: Apricot, overripe orange. Sickly sweet caramel malt with a fair waft of booze.
T: Big hit of malt sweetness up front. Layers of overripe orange immediately pick up with pine sol bitterness. Oxidized hop flavors continue. Overly yeasty with a distinct nuttiness in the brew.
M: Easy drinking for 8.2%. Medium to heavy bodied with not much in the way of carbonation to lift it.
O: Old and expired. No date found. Expensive drain cleaner.

Well, I always have to try new DIPAs, and I keep hoping for something interesting from Anchor. The first sip is an eye-opener and gives some promise of plenty of flavor at least. Malty but just a little sweet. Some peach flavor that gets lost in the scorched cedar. The fruit flavors would be nice but there is a harshness that gets in the way.
Woody taste with a lot of herbal astringency. Bitter and murky. They did extract a lot of hop delirium for this brew. Overall this is such a bewildering bruiser of a hop monster it's not easy to drink much.
Very attractive, though, with a lovely pile of suds on the golden amber brew in the Maredsous goblet. Peach aroma. Plenty of suds on the palate. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Elizabeth Station in Bellingham.

22oz bottle into tulip.
A: Pours a dark almost pumpkin amber color with a couple fingers of very greasy and oily looking off-white head. The head slowly collapsed into a very thick and lasting film. A sticky network of thick lace was left down the glass.
S: I get hoppy scents of sweet tropical fruit nectars mixed with classic citrus rind. Pineapple and maybe guava are noticeable, along with citrus notes of tangerine and grapefruit skin.
T: Sweet tropical fruits hit first with hints of mango, guava, and sweet pineapple followed by citrus notes of grapefruit, lime, and kumquat near the finish. I get sweet, bready, slightly roasted, and slighted spicy notes from as well, with an almost peppery or rye-like spice in the aftertaste. I get flavors of mint and sweet fruit nectar lingering after the swallow.
M: This has a rather full body and viscous heavy mouthfeel that is full of fresh and resinous hop oils. Sweet and thick overall, greasy and slick from all the hop oils, with smooth and soft carbonation. The alcohol is noticeable but not hot, bitterness is solid.
O: This drinks heavier and stronger than an 8% ipa. I’ve had double digit triple ipas that are similar to the hop potency in the flavor and heaviness to the mouthfeel. This grew on me the more I drank it to the point where I’d say I like this beer, but it is a bit boozy and rough around the edges for what it should be. The hop freshness is awesome though, and all the flavorful oils had a tingly feeling on my tongue.

Bottle fresh out of a carton on the East Coast. Hazy orange without much head. Smells of malts and dank hops - no light citrus or floral notes here! Tastes of heavy hop oils with malts - someone else described it as woody with a herbal astringency which matches what I taste. Mouthfeel is heavy with a carbonation and hops bite. Overall, this is just too dank and heavy for my tastes but other than that no obvious shortcomings.
